Kanye West has returned to headlines recently, whether for his 10-year deal with Gap (Yeezy Gap will arrive next year) or for his latest surprise single "Wash Us In the Blood" featuring Travis Scott. But Saturday night, on the Fourth of July, West shared his most important news to date: he's running for president in 2020. "We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States," West tweeted around 9 p.m. ET. He completed the tweet with an American flag emoji, and the hashtag #2020VISION. Rumors of West running for president have circulated before -- over the past year he's leaned much more into politics, having a handful of meetings with Donald Trump. This tweet seemingly confirms that he is in fact all in. Billboard has reached out to his team for comment.

Hilary Duff is calling out California residents who disobeyed social distancing mandates and partied during the Fourth of July weekend amid the coronavirus pandemic. In an Instagram post on Saturday, the Younger star, 32, said that she took a drive with her husband Matthew Koma and their daughter Banks, 21 months, and saw a "raging party" where no one was wearing masks. http://instagram.com/p/CCPsyi_j_aE "A—holes," Duff wrote on Instagram alongside a family selfie. "No masks (of course). Girls in bathing suits and louboutins waiting to get in like a line at a club After @matthewkoma and I told Banks she’s too cool to ever need to do that we were steaming." "California is in bad shape (in so many ways) but doesn’t everyone think we all want to go out freely and travel and enjoy summer," the actress added. "It really seems like Americans just don’t care about each other...somehow this pandemic has turned into a political stance between parties...that’s a head scratcher for me." http://instagram.com/p/CCG3CHqjh3x The mother of two also pointed out the United States' rising cases of COVID-19, writing, "other countries have come together in a beautiful way to contain or be Covid free." "It’s embarrassing that we are worse than ever because people need to party and Karens won’t wear masks!" Duff wrote. The actress concluded her lengthy post by writing, "Oh and I’m running for President" — seemingly making a jab at Kanye West, who announced his intentions of running for president earlier in the evening.

Taylor Swift for president in 2020? Her fans sure hope so.
Swifties around the nation took to social media on Saturday (July 4) to call for the pop superstar to run for president following Kanye West's announcement that he'll be running for commander in chief in the 2020 election.
"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States," West tweeted Saturday night, adding an American flag emoji and the hashtag #2020VISION.
Tiffany Haddish, Eric Balfour & More React to Kanye West's Presidential Run: 'This Is the Height of Privilege' Swift's fans quickly reacted to the unexpected news, begging the singer -- who has been at odds with West for more than a decade -- to run against the rapper/fashion mogul this November.
"How about taylor swift as the president and selena gomez as vice president?" Twitter user @codyswiftgomez wrote alongside edited photos of the two singers standing at presidential podiums.
Swift's feud with West started when he interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. It reached a fever pitch in 2016 after Ye dropped his music video for "Famous," which features a naked wax figure depicting Swift lying next to West in bed.
Another one of Swift's fan reacted by jokingly suggesting that presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden should tap Swift as his vice president for the upcoming election.
"okay so i need @joebiden to announce @taylorswift13 as his vice-president in order to defeat Kanye West & Trump. enough is enough. we’re tired af," @sraihane1 tweeted.
Unfortunately for Swift fans, U.S. regulations state that presidential candidates must be at least 35 years old. The singer won't reach that age for another five years. West, meanwhile, is 43.

Britney Spears fans are calling for an end to her conservatorship just hours after Kanye West announced he will be running for president of the United States, and the reason is simple -- he was hospitalized for mental illness too!
On Sunday afternoon, the hashtag #freebritney started trending worldwide on Twitter after a group of the pop star's fans pushed for an end to her personal conservatorship which has lasted over a decade. More specifically, they are calling for the pop princess to have access to her own personal lawyer in the case.
One topic that bubbled up on Twitter was the fact that Kanye West, who is now running for President, was also hospitalized for mental illness and was involuntarily held for over a week.
"Britney Spears goes through a mental health crisis publicly and she loses her rights. Kanye West goes through a mental health crisis publicly and he runs for president," one person tweeted.
But, members of the #freebritney movement claim she is unfairly being held against her will.
"Britney’s situation is truly horrible and is a violation of human rights. There’s no reason why she should continue to be under a conservatorship. She doesn’t even have control of her own finances or children," one tweet read.

Kanye West's clothing and sneaker brand Yeezy received a loan from the federal government's pandemic rescue fund worth between $2 million and $5 million, helping it save 106 jobs, according to data released by the U.S. Treasury Department on Monday.
Yeezy, best known for its $250 sneakers, just announced a major deal with Gap that will have the rap superstar designing hoodies and T-shirts that will be sold in the chain's 1,100 stores around the world. A representative for Yeezy did not immediately respond to request for comment.
This weekend, West announced on Twitter that he was running for president.
Some other well-known fashion and retail names whose business was pummeled by store closings across the country also received the 1% loans that can be forgiven if worker-employment goals are met.
The list included high-end designers Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang and suit maker Hickey Freeman, all of which got loans in the $2 million to $5 million range.
Untuckit, a shirt retailer with 85 locations, had two loans between $5 million and $10 million.
