With the release of Taylor Swift's "Betty," fans suspected that the singer may have dropped news of the name of close friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' newest daughter into the lyrics — and they would be correct. A source with knowledge of the situation tells PEOPLE that the song was named in part for Lively and Reynolds' third daughter, born Oct. 4. Reps for the couple did not return a request for comment. Last fall, the actor announced that he and Lively had welcomed their third daughter together, but stayed mum on her name. Sleuthing Swifties were quick to note that the track featured three names in the song — Betty, Inez and James — the latter two being the names of Reynolds and Lively's 3½ and 5-year-old daughters and leading fans to wonder if the 9-month-old's moniker had been revealed. http://instagram.com/p/CDAsiz7jf9q "Betty, I know where it all went wrong," Swift sings. Later lines include "You heard the rumors from Inez / You can't believe a word she says" and "She said, 'James, get in, let's drive."

A few fans suspected the song had something to do with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. And though we don't know the validity of the other theories, this one turned out to be true! The song's lyrics reference three people: James, Inez, and, of course, Betty. James and Inez are the names of Ryan and Blake's daughters, who are 5 years old and 3 years old, respectively. In May 2019, the couple revealed they were expecting their third child. Blake debuted her baby bump on the Detective Pikachu red carpet and quietly gave birth later that year, but has been mum on any specifics...until now.

Taylor Swift's "Betty," one plucky part of what she's affectionately coined Folklore's "Teenage Love Triangle," ends with a cliffhanger. "If I just showed up at your party, would you have me? Would you want me? Would you tell me to go f--- myself, or lead me to the garden?" the song's protagonist, James, sings throughout the track -- but the listener isn't privy to Betty's immediate answer. One Swift fan took the liberty to build upon Swift's fantasy scene with a TikTok comedy series from the perspective of everyone else at that fated high school party, where a teen is fumbling through an apology. http://instagram.com/p/CDVc8T3ly_0 In some of TikTok user @kerrinotcarrieokay's videos, she's Betty's "stupid friends" inside the house, one of whom accidentally locked herself in the bathroom. "Who's that?" the friend says as she bangs on the jammed door to get someone's attention. "Is that James?! No! Don't do it, Betty! Betty! BEEEETTTTTYYYY!!" http://instagram.com/p/CDVcSMulSgR In another take, which has gotten over 155,000 views over on TikTok, she acts out the part of a pair of cops outside Betty's house, arriving to shut down the whole shindig. "Weren't we going to break up this party?" one asks. "Oh, yeah, yeah, we are. I just want to see what this yahoo says first. Little skateboarding punk." http://instagram.com/p/CDUfiKzl-Wl

Taylor Swift has revealed the real story behind her new song "betty."
Since the release of the superstar singer's eighth studio album, folklore, on July 24, fans have been pouring over the lyrics to each track. One song in particular—"betty"—had Swifties around the world speculating about the names Swift mentioned in the lyrics. In the track, the Grammy winner uses the names James, Inez and, of course, Betty. After listening to the song, many Swift fans noted that James and Inez are the names of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' two eldest daughters, James Reynolds and Inez Reynolds.
The 30-year-old star, who has been close pals with the superstar couple for years now, even had fans speculating that the name "Betty" could be the moniker of Lively and Reynolds' third child. The private pair had yet to share the name of their baby girl before this time. However, since their daughter James was previously featured on Swift's song "Gorgeous," rumors started flying that "betty" revealed the celeb baby name.
Swift did not immediately address the rumors; however, she did recently share the backstory of her hit track while introducing "betty" on country radio.

The singer, 30, is set to sing "betty" during the Academy of Country Music Awards on Wednesday, marking the first performance of the song since she surprise-released her eighth album folklore on July 24.
In August, the two-time ACM entertainer of the year winner introduced "betty" on country radio and shared the meaning behind her single, which revealed the name of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' third daughter Betty, who was born in October 2019.
"[James] has lost the love of his life basically and doesn't understand how to get it back. I think we all have these situations in our lives where we learn to really, really give a heartfelt apology for the first time," Swift explained. "Everybody makes mistakes, everybody really messes up sometimes and this is a song that I wrote from the perspective of a 17-year-old boy. I've always loved that in music you can kinda slip into different identities and you can sing from other people's perspectives. So that's what I did on this one."
The last time Swift made an appearance at the ACM Awards was in 2015. She previously made her awards show debut at the ACMs in 2007 when she performed her first hit "Tim McGraw."
In April 2015, the star received the show's Milestone Award, which was given to seven artists (Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, and Kenny Chesney) who made a major impact in country music.
The honor, which was presented by her mother Andrea, came less than a year after she announced in August 2014 that she would be moving away from the genre for pop music as she made the transition with the release of her 1989 album that October.
"Somebody once told me that you truly see who a person is when you tell them something they don’t want to hear," she said in her Milestone Award acceptance speech. "And so to the country music community, when I told you that I had made a pop album and that I wanted to go explore other genres, you showed me who you are with the grace you accepted that with. I will never forget it."
