For no reason seemingly other than "welp, we've reached that point of quarantine," Selena Gomez took to Instagram on Tuesday night to show the world what the insides of her fridge and freezer look like. Don't get me wrong—it's not that I haven't always wondered what Selena is eating on a regular basis. It's just that it turns out I wasn't truly prepared for what was inside.
Really, there are a few things of note going on here, the first of which is that Selena rehydrates just like the rest of us: with lots and lots of blue and red Gatorade. Secondly, she opts for classy, higher-end seltzers like Spindrift and Pellegrino. Thirdly, there are quite a few things she's stocked up on for the quar. Those things are, in no particular order, ice cream, yogurt, orange juice, and ranch.
Yes, my friends. Billboard-topping artist and beloved human Selena Gomez is sitting on the world's biggest bottle of Hidden Valley ranch dressing. The bottle she has is so large that I can't even tell what kind of wine is sitting in the fridge behind it—in fact, I can only tell it's wine because I see the tip of a skinny bottle neck and a cork! That's it! The ranch bottle otherwise obscures the entire width and height of the alcohol behind it!
I did my best to find something comparable for you to buy (because who among us at this point in time doesn't deserve a mondo bottle of the stuff?), and could only find this two-pack of 40-ounce bottles on Amazon. That may be the size Selena's got, but in order to be really sure, you're going to have to stack some wine behind it and see what you're working with. If worst comes to worst, you can always keep buying these two-packs and...emptying them into your bathtub?
While promoting her upcoming HBO Max cooking show, Selena + Chef, the "Rare" singer opened up about how she's been navigating life in quarantine — and all that she's thankful for at the end of the day.
"I think there's been a lot of blessings in the breaking," Gomez, 28, told reporters during the CTAM Summer Press Tour's virtual panel on Wednesday. "It's not easy for anyone to be walking through what we're walking through. It's not normal. It's affecting people specifically with mental health. People who have never thought about things that they’re thinking about now. It's confusing."
While Gomez admitted that it was "hard" to get acclimated to her new normal in the beginning, she's "grateful" for her blessings and the strong support system that surrounds her.
"I have great friends; I see a therapist," said Gomez. "I try to keep my mind positive. I've learned so much about myself. I've learned so much about my country than I ever have from school or anywhere. I've been very grateful for that as well. A lot has changed. And I'm 28 now, whatever that means."
Last week, the "Good For You" songstress returned to social media after a brief hiatus, explaining to fans the reason behind her absence. "I wanted to take some time to do a quick message for you guys because I haven't been posting that much," she began. "I just wanted to let you know that I love you guys and I miss you and there's so many exciting things coming up that I can't wait to e with all of you."
"I just think at the beginning of this year, with everything going on, it felt a little insensitive to post things that may be a little just joyful or celebratory. It was really hard for me and I've taken the time to learn, truly learn, about what's going on and I continue to make that my priority," she added.
"But, just letting you know that I'm going to be a little bit more involved and I'm just sending more love and gonna show you some more of my personal stuff and what I have been doing. But, thank you for being here, and thank you for supporting me always and I will talk to you soon," she concluded.
On Tuesday, Gomez shared a sneak peek of Selena + Chef, which follows Gomez as she polishes her cooking skills while self-isolating at home during the coronavirus pandemic.
Actress and singer Selena Gomez recently revealed that, like so many other Americans, pandemic lockdown has negatively impacted her mental health.
Her comments come after sharing in early April that she'd been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a mental health condition that can cause emotional highs, or mania, and emotional lows, or depression.
"It's not easy for anyone to be walking through what we're walking through. It's not normal, and it's affecting people, specifically with mental health, and people who could have never thought about things they're thinking about now. And it's really confusing," Gomez said during a WarnerMedia's virtual Television Critics Association press tour.
Gomez was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder On an April 4 episode of Miley Cyrus' talk show "Bright Minded," Gomez first revealed she'd been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
"You know, I had gone to treatment a few times for anxiety and for depression, and for other stuff that I had been struggling with," Gomez said. "Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in America — McLean Hospital — and I discussed that, after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar," she continued.
In a 2017 Vogue interview, Gomez said she'd struggled with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks.
Therapy and support from friends has helped To cope with mental health struggles during the pandemic, Gomez turned to therapy and her friends for support.
"It was hard, but I tried to find what I needed to get me through it. I have great friends and I see a therapist and keep my mind positive. I've learned so much about myself," Gomez said.
Selena + Chef is a 10-episode unscripted cooking series hosted and produced by Gomez. It features Gomez as she “navigates unfamiliar territory: making delicious meals while stuck at home in quarantine.” The series was filmed in its entirety during quarantine.
World-renowned chefs will be featured on the show, including Angelo Sosa, Antonia Lofaso, Candice Kumai, Daniel Holzman, Jon & Vinny, Ludo Lefebvre, Nancy Silverton, Nyesha Arrington, Roy Choi, and Tonya Holland. The master chefs will be joining Gomez remotely, so no worries, you won’t have to be worried about them not practicing social distancing.
“Having some of the best chefs open up their kitchens to me was a humbling and fun experience. I definitely discovered I have a lot more to learn. I’m also really happy that we were able to highlight and raise money for some incredible charitable organizations,” said Gomez in a prior statement sent to media.
“Watching Selena with these incredible chefs has been a delicious joy,” said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max. “You don’t need to be an experienced chef yourself to enjoy the show; you learn with her and get to see all the fun that happens in the kitchen. Try not to watch it while !”
“[I’ve] done that and that’s been impressive to my friends,” she said. My comfort food would be my nana’s chicken and dumplings. I’m from the South so it’s like this yummy, just biscuits, like, with all this chicken and it was–I would say that’s my favorite.”
Ahead of the show, Gomez recently launched a “Cooking Together: Selena Gomez” playlist on Spotify. The playlist is comprised of songs that Gomez listens to while cooking. The 44-song playlist includes tracks from Roddy Ricch, Lauryn Hill, Taylor Swift, Summer Walker, Dua Lipa, BLACKPINK, and many more.
She is giving fans a sneak peek inside her kitchen and new home on the HBO Max series.
And Selena Gomez has admitted that she is not the 'best cook' in a hilarious trailer from her new show Selena + Chef.
In the clip shared to her Instagram account, it sees the singer, 28, accidentally set food on fire and serve a raw cheese soufflé as she learns how to cook in quarantine.
Her pal takes a bite and declares: 'It's not done,' to which Selena then investigates and adds: 'That's not done!'
And things take a more disastrous turn when she cooks fish as the dish sets on fire in the oven, to which her friend opens the door and yells: 'This is on fire!'
