Evanescence have teamed up with HeadCount, a non-partisan, non-profit voter registration organization, to promote voter registration with a new campaign called Use My Voice. The two have already teamed up for a PSA, which uses the band’s upcoming song of the same name as the campaign. This track will be released on August 14. This upcoming campaign will direct users to the www.UseMyVoice.org website, which provides its users with accurate, clear information on voting by mail, location-based instructions on where to vote, what’s on an individual voter’s ballot and easy access to voter registration where permitted. This is also accompanied by a campaign to get voters to check or update their voter registration status. “The Use My Voice campaign is about empowering people to use their voice at the ballot box,” Lee stated in a press release. “Promoting easy access to registration and voting is not a Democratic or Republican issue—it’s an American issue and one we should all promote because there’s nothing more patriotic than supporting participation in our democratic process.” As an extra incentive, those who fill out the form found on the website will also be given free access to the band’s private live stream concert in October. Evanescence is set to release a new studio album titled The Bitter Truth sometime this year. The group have released a couple of new songs from the project this year “Wasted On You” and ” The Game Is Over.” Lee teamed up with Halestorm for “Break In” on their Reimagined EP.

Evanescence and HeadCount join forces for the Use My Voice initiative to urge Americans to check or update their voter registration status ahead of November's election Evanescence and and voter registration organisation HeadCount have joined forces for the Use My Voice campaign. Use My Voice has been set up to encourage US citizens to check or update their voter registration status ahead of this November’s election. People can visit the Use My Voice website to get information about voting by mail, with the initiative also offering other helpful pointers in the voting process. In addition, Evanescence fans registering or checking their voting status through the website will receive an e-ticket to attend a free, private online performance by the band later this year. Evanescence’s Amy Lee says: “For many Americans, voting is too often an intimidating experience. We all saw the long lines in certain precincts in Georgia during their recent primary elections. “Unfortunately, what happened there is not unique in America. It happens all the time, especially in underserved communities in our country. Now, add COVID-19 into the mix and you have the perfect combination of factors to continue to suppress the voice of the people. “The Use My Voice campaign is about empowering people to use their voice at the ballot box. Promoting easy access to registration and voting is not a Democratic or Republican issue – it’s an American issue and one we should all promote because there’s nothing more patriotic than supporting participation in our democratic process.” HeadCount’s executive director Andy Bernstein adds: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Evanescence towards our goal of registering 200,000 new voters this election year.

Evanescence singer Amy Lee has opened up on the lack of female rock singers, after being grilled on the issue during a recent interview.
Posting on Facebook, Lee explained that she was asked about “the lack of women historically on rock radio and in the mainstream rock world”, but wished to share a more detailed answer after being unable to fully articulate herself during the interview.
She wrote: “Honestly, women DO get skipped over. We DO get left out of the recap when it all boils down. It IS harder to make it onto the cover or the radio. Because our face is not the classic, quintessential face of rock…if you’re thinking of it as a literal face. I think it’s embedded subconsciously in our brains that women in rock are less authentic somehow, like we’re next gen. We’re part 2. Not the original. A niche little off-brand thing. But here’s the deal: The true heart of rock music is the spirit of REBELLION.”
She added: “Going against the grain. Challenging views, breaking society’s rules, and unapologetically being who you are. We’re supposed to be the moms, the girlfriends, the fans. But then there are those rogue dissenters who don’t fit the mold and don’t let that stop them from doing what they dream- and THAT is rock n roll!
“So all you women out there making your mark in the rock world and changing the game, you are the real thing. 1000 times more legit than any tatted up riff meisters who merely look the part!”
