She's all about shaking it off! Meghan Trainor, who made a name for herself with her hit song "All About That Bass," took on Taylor Swift this week when she covered Swift's new single "Shake It Off." Trainor, 20, recently stopped by the Australian radio show Dan and Maz, and performed an acoustic take of the first cut off of Swift's upcoming 1989 album. The Massachusetts-born singer opened by mirroring the original melody, and giving an impressive performance of Swift's lyrics. Midway through the song, she broke into a rap: "Hey, say Taylor, shake 'em off / Come on, don't let 'em get to ya / Go ahead and dance like there ain't nobody watchin' ya / Shake like your polaroid picture / You got the fans like we wanna dance wit ya." Trainor already has a special relationship with Swift, 24, as the breakout performer earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when "All About That Bass" bumped Swift's "Shake It Off" to No. 2 after a two-week chart-topping run.

She is one of the biggest acts on the bill. And on Friday, Taylor Swift certainly made her presence known - both on the red carpet and on stage, sporting two different midriff-flashing costumes. Taylor took to the stage in an eye-catching white crop top and mini skirt encrusted with sequins and stones while showing off her toned tummy. Taylor Swift is a different artist than she was two years ago, which was the last time she performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Like her 2012 performance, Swift's five-song set on Friday night (Sept. 19) consisted of three past hits, then early treasure "Love Story," and then her flashy new single (at that point, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"). But instead of taking the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena as country's undisputed queen, Swift opened this year's show as a music superstar pivoting unambiguously toward pop music, an effort restated through another live performance of her new smash "Shake It Off." "So here we are, all of us in Las Vegas, because we all love listening to the radio," Swift told her audience a little after 7:45 PT on Friday night. Twirling around the stage in a jewel-encrusted light pink two-piece, Swift's performance was pure bubblegum, as she blasted through her most sugary Red hits ("We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "22," "I Knew You Were Trouble.") and then thickened the country-pop of "Love Story" into a blustering arena-rock opus. Meanwhile, a 13-piece backing troupe rounded out her giddy vocals, and the numbers '1 9 8 9' towered onstage behind her, a constant reminder that a new T-Swift era is about to begin. The too-short set -- and one, disappointingly, with no previously unheard songs previewed -- ended with "Shake It Off," which Swift introduced as a product of trying to de-stress and take down the naysayers. "If you have frenemies and if you have liars and dirty dirty cheats of the world… I think the best way to handle a situation like that is just to shake it off" (a Katy Perry subtweet, perhaps?). When the song began with the four-piece brass section kicking in, Swift appeared elated to be able to play her new confection for the first time since the MTV Video Music Awards, and "Shake It Off" easily elicited her highest energy level of the night. While the iHeartRadio audience was busy dancing, Swift came over to her trombonist and puckishly smacked his ass as if he were one of her well-publicized haters "I was so happy tonight, it made it impossible to remember the times in the past that I haven't been," Swift tweeted a few hours after the performance. Swift will likely explore those unnamed demons on new album 1989, due out Oct. 27, but as iHeartRadio Fest's opening act, she was a high-energy champion with a shiny new toy to show off.

OMG! In the video below you will see one news anchor showing off his fabulous dance moves to Taylor Swift's Shake It Off. The news anchor knows the words to the song, and hits every beat with his moves, but his co-anchor is another story! The other news anchor was having none of it! She bobbed her head to the beat a few times, but mostly she couldn't be bothered with her dancing news partner. What a bummer! We would have totally danced along! What about YOU?

When Taylor Swift sat down to write her now three-time-GRAMMY-nominated hit “Shake It Off” from her “first documented official pop album,” 1989, she wanted to create a song that got people out of their shells. In an interview with Radio.com, the country singer-turned-pop star explains how the song, which she cowrote with Max Martin and Shellback, came to be. “Writing ‘Shake It Off’ was something that I wanted to do to basically create a song that was a song for any of us who have felt like we’ve been picked on or gossiped about,” Swift says. “But I didn’t want it to seem like we had been victimized. I wanted it to come from a perspective of strength, but I also wanted it to make people dance.” And that she did. With its catchy beats and singable chorus, the song showcases Swift’s successful entry into the pop world. “Shake It Off” stayed at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 for four weeks, and it also broke the record for the highest debut ever on Adult Pop Songs radio airplay chart, where it debuted at No. 9, according to Billboard. In the video for “Shake It Off,” Swift tries out several dance genres to find herself unsuccessful at mimicking the professional dancers. Instead, she shakes it off and dances the way she knows how. “My dream when I was writing this was, ‘I hope they play this at weddings and I hope there’s a wallflower who doesn’t want to dance, and when this song comes in she gets up and goes to the dance floor.’ I’ve heard some stories so far that that’s been happening at weddings, and it’s really nice to see it become realized,” she says with a smile.
