A new Taylor Swift album may be here sooner than we thought (or, conversely, not soon enough). Monday afternoon Swift uploaded the below video to Instagram along with the message, "So, here's your first clue..." The video shows Swift pushing an elevator button reading '18' six times. (Anyone else humming the "elevator buttons and morning air" part of "Ours" right now?)
So many questions: Does this mean the lead single is coming Aug. 18? Will an upcoming music video be shot enitrely in an elevator? Will there be 18 tracks on the new album? Perhaps most likely, will a new album arrive Oct. 18?
If that's indeed the case, it would seem to follow the well-established pattern of Swift records; all four of her previous albums thus far have come out within a few specific weeks near the end of October: Taylor Swift was released Oct. 24, 2006; Fearless dropped Nov. 11, 2008; Speak Now debuted Oct. 25, 2010; and Red dropped Oct. 22, 2012.
We are beginning to have less and less understanding over our lives. Taylor Swift, who could be dropping a new single any day now, has teased the second piece of her stir-crazy puzzle. The new photo, with her adorable furry friend Olivia Benson posing in the background, is timestamped with 5:00. This clue follows Monday’s (Aug. 4) Instragram clip, featuring 18 on an elevator.
@taylorswift13 Cluuuuue number twooooo.....
OK. So, let’s overanalyze this one, shall we? Is her single about her cat? Is the single called ‘Olivia Benson’? Is it not even about her cat (and that’s just a decoy)? Or…maybe that hand-drawn cityscape at the top left corner is what should be grabbing our attention? The words are hard to make out: “To __ beautiful friends, in a beautiful home?” Well, judging by comments online, here is what we can (probably) surmise so far: Her new single drops on August 18 at 5 pm.
After several days of social media mystery, Taylor Swift‘s big secret may have been revealed — albeit unintentionally. It would seem that the pop-country superstar will be doing an exclusive Q&A with Yahoo. The live video stream will be broadcast on Aug. 18 at 5PM ET.
The internet has been buzzing since Swift posted a mysterious Instagram video of her pressing an elevator button for the 18th floor over and over again (18th floor = Aug. 18). Then, there was a second clue — another post on Instagram — this time, a picture of her cute new kitten with the time (5:00) displayed prominently, as well as a watercolor painting of New York. The third and presumably final clue was more of a puzzler, with Swift sharing a screencap of the Yahoo search bar, filled in with “this is…clue #3.”
Is Taylor Swift gunning for another Saturday Night Live hosting gig? The singer -- who will be ramping up public appearances in the coming weeks to promote her as-yet-unofficial new music -- is featured in a new video from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Swift will be on the program on Wednesday, Aug. 13, but she's already doing a little method acting to get into a new character: Nerdy Natalie.

Is Taylor Swift about to announce a new album? The country crossover superstar posted a countdown on her website today ticking down the minutes until 5 p.m. Aug. 18 when she will host a live stream on Yahoo from New York City, where she's currently calling home.
Swift's website www.taylorswift.com tells fans how to host their own live stream viewing party, allows them to choose party invitations and gives New York City fans the opportunity to enter to win a chance to attend the event.
Swift announced her last album "Red" in a similar way with a live web chat from Nashville. That announcement came mid-August of 2012 and "Red" was released two months later on Oct. 22, 2012. Swift typically releases an album every two years.
Fans can watch the live stream next Monday, Aug. 18, at yahoo.com/taylorswift.
