The deal struck by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with Netflix has given the Duke of Sussex a new chance to speak out against Diana: A New Musical, according to Ken Wharfe. The controversial musical has raised eyebrows among a few royal fans and commentators for the portrayal of Princess Diana as well as other members of the Royal Family. Mr Wharfe, who has yet to see the musical, believes Prince Harry is now in a position to call Netflix to account should he not like how his beloved mother has been represented in the Broadway show. He told The Sun: “The Diana musical, soon to be premiered on Netflix, presents a huge dilemma to them both. "If the critics are to be believed, this musical story is not a joyous journey of love with a happy ending but an episodic account of untruths, scandal and sex. “Harry loved his mother dearly and has spoken of her in such loving detail recently. “He now has the chance, irrespective of his lucrative deal with Netflix, to stand alone from his wife and make clear his abhorrence of such a musical and call Netflix to account. “If he were to do this, his fading popularity would be guaranteed a huge resurgence.” The musical focused on Diana previewed in Broadway in March, but the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic prevented the general public from seeing the show.

Diana's wedding dress—that very '80s gown embroidered with 10,000 pearls and bedecked in frilled lace—is iconic. But it couldn't have had the same impact without its covert understudy, created without Diana's knowledge. David Emanuel and his then-wife Elizabeth were tasked with creating Diana's dress—and doing their best to keep the final design a secret. The latter was no easy task given the media frenzy encircling Diana and her husband-to-be, Prince Charles, in advance of their big day, so the Emanuels found themselves taking extreme measures: making a second dress for "peace of mind." "At the time we wanted to make absolutely sure that the dress was a surprise," David told People in 2018. "We didn't try it on Diana. We never even discussed it. We wanted to make sure that we had something there; it was for our own peace of mind, really." The second dress was never finished, and significantly less lavish than the one Diana actually wore—though considering that the Princess's dress boasted a 25-foot train and lace that once belonged to Queen Mary, just about anything would've been understated in comparison. When the wedding day did finally come along, Diana's dress design had managed to remain a mystery, but the Emanuels were nervous all the same. "She was incredibly together and wasn’t panicking," Elizabeth Emanuel told People. "But I was really worried about all things that could possibly go wrong. We’d taken smelling salts, glucose tablets — what if she feels faint? What if she passes out? Spills something down her skirt? I had this kind of horror that maybe the train would drop off. We sewed her into things, we pinned her into things."

In 1995, Princess Diana broke all kinds of royal precedent and protocol when she sat down for an explosive, tell-all interview with journalist Martin Bashir on BBC Panorama. In the now-infamous interview, Diana candidly discussed the breakdown of her marriage to Prince Charles, including his affair with his now-wife Camilla Parker Bowles and her own affair with James Hewitt.
Diana's oldest son, Prince William, was 13 years old when the interview aired and, by all accounts, it had a huge impact on him.
According to The Mirror, royal historian and biographer Robert Lacey explained that William actually "wept" while watching the interview and that "something inside him snapped."
"Before the 58 minutes ended, William was weeping," Lacey writes in his newest book, Battle Of Brothers: William, Harry And The Inside Story Of A Family In Tumult, adding that William's housemaster at Eton, Dr. Andrew Gailey, actually found the young prince in the midst of a mini-breakdown after he watched the show. "Gailey told Diana that he found her son slumped on the sofa, his eyes red with tears."
William is currently supporting an inquiry from the BBC into renewed allegations that Bashir manipulated Diana by forging documents to secure the interview.

Princess Diana appears to be bringing her boys back together — at least somewhat.
Amid months of turmoil and a rumored split between Prince William and Prince Harry, who infamously left the royal family with bride Meghan Markle, the brothers have agreed on a final design for a planned sculpture of their late mom, according to The Sun.
The statue of Diana by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley is set to be unveiled on July 1 — what would have been her 60th birthday.
“It will have been signed off by William and Harry, that much I do know,” a source close to the sculptor told The Sun.
Word of the development comes as fallout continues from Prince Harry and Markle’s sitdown with Oprah, in which the pair had claimed they had no plans to leave The Firm.
In the months before their Megxit, sources claim the couple insisted to royal advisers, “You can’t stop us from doing what we want to do.”
