The Village People, with the exception of the cop, are outraged Donald Trump supporters have jacked their most-famous song and changed the words as an homage to their candidate. Members of the group tell TMZ, they hate the idea the song is being used to promote Trump's re-election. They say, "Other than to antagonize Biden supporters, we really don't get Trump supporters fascination with 'Y.M.C.A.'" They go on to say ... "To say that we are annoyed by this type of use of 'Y.M.C.A.' is an understatement." Problem for the group ... Victor Willis, a founding member, lead singer and songwriter, controls the copyright and he's not going to block it. Victor has previously said, "I will continue to criticize the President when he says or does something I disagree with. And I disagree with most of his politics. But I am not a Trump hater. Therefore, I will not take the next step of bringing suit against the President simply because he loves 'Y.M.C.A.' and won't stop playing it at his rallies." It looks like the same applies when Trump supporters jack the song. After Trump's alleged comments about veterans, it's unlikely he'll use another Village People song ... "In the Navy."

Trump is no stranger to the spotlight and the president is reveling in what could be his last day as president of the United States.
The Republican candidate today took to Twitter to post a montage of him dancing on stage to the Village People anthem "YMCA" in a clip that has been viewed 10 million times at the time of writing.
Trump shared the video on Election Day, November 3, with the caption: "VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!"
It is unclear what exactly he is trying to achieve with the clip, most likely it is to whip up some excitement and hype on Election Day, like a virtual rally.
Trump regularly uses the '70s disco song—widely beloved as an LGBTQ+ anthem—to close out his rallies, often accompanied by his much-mocked style of fist pump arm dancing. He is also famously a fan of the Village People's other hit song, "Macho Man."

President Donald Trump returned to the campaign trail last night, holding a bizarre rally in Florida that culminated with him dancing along to 'YMCA'. The 74-year-old spent several days in hospital earlier this month after contracting coronavirus but his medical team have now claimed that he has tested negative. That announcement paved the way for Trump to resume election campaigning - and he began with a packed rally at Orlando Airport in the Sunshine State. As part of his treatment for COVID-19, the President has been given a cocktail of drugs that includes steroids, which can lead to euphoria. You might've heard "Y.M.C.A." being played A LOT lately from both Dems and Republicans -- a testament that it's still got pull on both sides of the aisle ... according to the guy who wrote it.
Village People founder Victor Willis -- the cop in the group -- tells TMZ ... he just loves the fact his band's iconic earworm has seeped into the political arena this election cycle -- even if that means it was heavily kickstarted by Donald Trump at rallies.
In case you hadn't noticed, Trump was big into incorporating "Y.M.C.A." as a go-to tune during his final blitz across the country -- often dancing to it on stage, which actually got made into a 2-minute long compilation clip in sync with the song. So, yeah ... it's been revived.
Of course, on Saturday ... the song was sorta hijacked by Biden supporters in Philly who danced to it while trolling Trump supporters from across the street (who were actually playing it) ... this as Joe Biden was announced as the projected winner of the 2020 election.
On that front, Victor tells us that's A-OK too ... everyone's invited to sing it. So long as the track continues to get play -- not to mention climb back up on the charts, which it's also doing for the first time in literally decades -- he's good with anybody getting down to "Y.M.C.A.'
As we told you, Victor had already signaled it was cool for DT to use the track -- and he reiterated that here with us as well ... saying he had no plans to sue Trump or his campaign.
