It looks like that "lonely " from Taylor Swift's "Willow" remix released first thing Tuesday morning (Dec. 15) isn't so lonely anymore. On Tuesday night, around 8 p.m. ET, Swift released yet another take on her Evermore single with the "willow (moonlit version)." This marks the third remix since the album and song were released on Friday, starting with the "dancing " version on Sunday, remixed by Elvira. "Ever find yourself waiting for the signal & meeting someone after dark & happening upon a majestic coven in the woods?" Swift asked in a tweet late Tuesday. "Me neither but do you want your [music] to make you FEEL like that? Then the 'willow moonlit version' is for you."

A lot of us developed new habits and interests during the 2020 lockdown. Some people took up knitting. Some folks baked bread. Some of us were lucky enough to create art. Some of us got really into witchcraft. And, hear me out, I think Taylor Swift did at least those last two. Yes. I’m pretty sure Taylor Swift is a now and I want to be the first to welcome her to the coven. We got the first hints that Taylor was down with the goddess when folklore hit this summer. For one, folklore (the thing and not the album), is the literal gateway to magic, witchcraft, and the occult. We learn about spells and ghosts and the fae and all sorts of mystical things through actual folklore. Plus, the album was fall distilled into music and we all know fall is the witchiest season. And literally every I know was obsessed with it. But now Taylor has made her witchy nature explicit with evermore and the accompanying videos, remixes, and tweets. Specifically, the opening song “willow” and the accompanying music video. In the video, Taylor follows a magic thread to find her love, and at one point ventures into a snowy forest to dance around a magic fire under the full moon with a bunch of people in capes and masks that look a lot like witches! And that’s intentional, as are many of the multi-layered meanings and visuals in Taylor’s work (seriously, I’m not a Swiftie, but just researching this article I encountered all sorts of analysis of the references and themes in Taylor’s entire oeuvre and it’s seriously impressive). But with “willow” Taylor herself explicitly acknowledged, when chatting with fans about the video/song, that she thinks “sounds like casting a spell to make someone fall in love with you.” Also, the song goes into the witchy bits right after she croons, “I come back stronger than a 90’s trend,” and we all know that the first pop cultural wave came in the 90s. (Believe me, I am still riding it). And by the way, that line is now Taylor’s Twitter bio. Need more proof? Her remixes, pictures, and tweets have been pretty clear: she’s a now!

As parent album "Evermore" opens atop the Billboard 200, Swift is the first artist to debut atop both charts simultaneously twice: "Folklore" & "Cardigan" began on top in August.
Taylor Swift's "Willow" blooms with a No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The track is her seventh Hot 100 leader and second of 2020.
Concurrently, parent album Evermore launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as Swift is the first artist to debut atop both charts simultaneously twice. She became the first act to achieve the feat even once when her prior album Folklore and its single "Cardigan" opened atop the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 charts dated Aug. 8.
The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. All charts (dated Dec. 26) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Dec. 22). For all chart news, you can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
Here's a deeper look at the coronation of "Willow," released Dec. 11 on Republic Records, concurrent with Evermore. The song is the 1,115th No. 1 in the Hot 100's 62-year history.
Streams, sales & airplay: "Willow" drew 30 million U.S. streams and sold 59,000 downloads in the week ending Dec. 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It also earned 12.3 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week ending Dec. 20.

Back in July, Taylor Swift released her surprise eighth studio album folklore. The LP was officially classified as alternative, making it her third genre classification in her career. After the release of folklore this summer, the album quickly topped the charts and is now the highest-selling album of 2020. According to the Wall Street Journal, the LP has sold over 1.95 million copies in the United States so far this year.
folklore also went on to debut at No.1 on Billboard‘s Alternative Albums chart. Then, shortly following the release of her second surprise album evermore, Swift continued to make chart history. evermore officially debuted at No.1 on the Alternative Albums chart and the Billboard 200. According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, evermore sold 329,000 equivalent album units in the Dec. 11 – 17 week. Of that sum, 155,000 units were pure album sales.

The song is her seventh track to debut at No.1 on this chart and the second to do so in this year alone. However, it looks like “willow” has officially broken a Hot 100 record in an unexpected way.
This week, “willow” saw the biggest Hot 100 drop in the chart’s history. The evermore single fell from the coveted No.1 spot all the way to No. 38. According to Chart Data, this fall is the biggest to ever happen to a No.1 song in Hot 100 history.

Despite this, Swift managed to hold the No.1 spot on the Billboard 200 again this week. evermore is spending its second consecutive week at the top of the chart. According to Billboard, the album earned 169,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 24.
Taylor Swift isn’t the only artist to break a record on the Billboard Hot 100 this month. On Dec. 11, Kid Cudi released his highly-anticipated new album Man On The Moon III: The Chosen. “Beautiful Trip,” the album’s opening track, is now officially the shortest song to ever chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

Taylor Swift climbs up the Billboard Hot 100 once more with her No. 1 hit "Willow," the lead single from her second surprise album of 2020, Evermore.
Swift told her fans during the YouTube music video premiere that the bewitching ballad is about "intrigue, desire, and the complexity that goes into wanting someone. I think it sounds like casting a spell to make somebody fall in love with you (an oddly specific visual)," she wrote.
Check out the spellbinding lyrics and music video below.
I'm like the water when your ship rolled in that night Rough on the surface but you cut through like a knife And if it was an open-shut case I never would've known from that look on your face Lost in your current like a priceless wine The more that you say The less I know Wherever you stray I follow I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans That's my man
Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind (oh) Head on the pillow, I could feel you sneaking in As if you were a mythical thing Like you were a trophy or a champion ring And there was one prize I'd cheat to win The more that you say The less I know Wherever you stray I follow I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans That's my man You know that my train could take you home Anywhere else is hollow I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans That's my man
Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind (oh) They count me out time and time again Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind (oh) But I come back stronger than a 90's trend
Wait for the signal and I'll meet you after dark Show me the places where the others gave you scars Now this is an open-shut case Guess I should've known from the look on your face Every bait and switch was a work of art
The more that you say The less I know Wherever you stray I follow I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans That's my man You know that my train could take you home Anywhere else is hollow I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans That's my man
The more that you say The less I know Wherever you stray I follow Begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans That's my man You know that my train could take you home Anywhere else is hollow Begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans That's my man
Hey, that's my man That's my man Yeah, that's my man Every bait and switch was a work of art That's my man Hey, that's my man I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans That's my man
