The Pretty Reckless - 25 (Behind The Scenes) Watch the official music video for "25": found.ee/tpr25_video "25" is definitely hard rock-driven, but there's also a softer element to it. With the new record, what were you sonically inspired by? [My inspiration] stems from the core of the music that I grew up loving and still love to this day. I mean, the Beatles is the first band I have to credit. And I think that any musician who doesn't credit the Beatles is lying to you. So the Beatles, but, I mean, but Soundgarden is obviously a huge influence, and we have Matt [Cameron] and Kim [Thayli] on a song [ on the record], "Only Love Can Save Me Now." What was it like collaborating with them after everything that happened with Chris Cornell? We became very close and they're very dear friends of mine and I just cannot speak highly enough of them as people, let alone musicianship. They've been idols of mine for years, so to collaborate with them on "Only Love Can Save Me Now," it was just the highlight of my life. We flew to Seattle and we went to London Bridge Studios in Seattle, which is where Soundgarden recorded Louder Than Love, Pearl Jam recorded Ten and Alice In Chains recorded a ton of their stuff there. Walking into that studio alone, you could feel just the energy in the walls. The studio, the walls, just bled life and passion, and you could feel how all those records were made there. The song just came to life in a way that I could imagine but didn't realize until I was actually there. It's one of my favorite songs on the album. I'm very, very proud of it, and I'm so glad that we got to do that together. Why did you end up titling the album Death By Rock and Roll? Death By Rock and Roll was a line that Kato used to say all the time. It was an ethic and a motto that we lived our lives by, and that I still live my life by to this day. It's very much a battle cry for life, and I think this album actually has a lot of hope in it.

The Pretty Reckless will finally unveil their highly-anticipated fourth album Death By Rock And Roll in 2021, but that’s not all vocalist Taylor Momsen is setting out to achieve this year. http://instagram.com/p/CI9INzfhlhL In fact, as well as a more general optimistic hope as to where things are heading over the next 12 months, the musician reveals to Kerrang! that her New Year’s Resolution is to keep up the momentum in terms of music and being an impactful artist. “It’s more a broad thing than something that applies just to me, but I really hope the world rights itself – that would obviously be a massive thing in general, but especially for bands,” Taylor responds when asked about the changes she wants to both see and make for herself in 2021. “In a more personal sense, I want to continue to better myself as an artist and a creative,” she continues. “Creativity is really important to me, so I intend to keep creating art, keep writing, keep working on visuals and honing the artistic content that will help to explain our new album in a deeper way.” Reflecting on her past year, Taylor tells K! about the importance of Death By Rock And Roll arriving soon. “A big thing that’s come out of this year has been the fact that we finally have a release date for our record – February 12, 2021 – because we were wondering for a long time when or even if we could release this album,” she admits. “It’s very weird to have announced the record and put a song out, have the track do really well but then be in this situation where we’ve never actually played it live. That whole scenario feels very bizarre.” However, Taylor clearly feels very positive about all things The Pretty Reckless right now. “There have been some incredible moments for The Pretty Reckless,” she enthuses. “We released the title-track from our upcoming album Death By Rock And Roll and it went to Number One which was crazy. It’s always scary putting out music – even more so in the times we’re living in right now – but to get such a positive reaction was the greatest gift we could possibly have been given.”
