The White House said Wednesday it remains in “close contact” with states hard hit by the winter weather and frigid temperatures that have knocked out power to millions.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said FEMA is supplying Texas with generators and diesel as well as water, blankets and other supplies.
Psaki also underscored the Biden administration’s push to get kids back in school as quickly as possible, and said that the president does not believe vaccinating teachers should be a prerequisite for reopening schools.
The press secretary said Biden strongly believes teachers should be “prioritized” for vaccinations, which is happening in about half of U.S. states.
But she said neither the president or vice president believes teacher vaccinations should be a requirement to open schools.
Psaki also offered Biden’s condolences to the family and friends of conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh, who died Wednesday after a battle with lung cancer.
