US President Biden has called on the opposition Republican Party to approve a budget for aid to Ukraine in Congress.
President Biden: "We must not let Putin win. It is in America's national interest and in the interest of all friendly countries. Obstructing the supply of weapons to Ukraine will only strengthen Putin's position."
In October, the Biden administration requested an emergency budget from Congress that included additional aid for Ukraine, but some Republicans opposed it and there was no prospect of approval, leading to the budget being depleted by the end of the year. There is a risk that military support will be interrupted.
On the 6th of this month, President Biden criticized Congress' refusal to approve the budget for aid to Ukraine, calling it the biggest gift President Putin could have hoped for and an abdication of American leadership.
He also pointed out that if Russia occupied Ukraine, it would next attack its NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) allies, stressing that Russia must not allow the number of aggressors to increase.
He also stated that the administration is "prepared to make significant compromises" regarding the border security budget sought by Republicans, and called for bipartisan approval of the budget.

potus 9m This week, in Austin and San Antonio, at least six people were killed and several more injured by a gunman – leaving families devastated, and communities forever changed. And yesterday, the University of Nevada at Las Vegas became the latest college campus to be terrorized by gun violence, as the community still awaits information on casualties. Jill and I join citizens across our nation in praying for the families of our fallen and those injured during these latest acts of senseless violence.

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. President Biden urges Congress to agree to additional military aid to Ukraine without further delay after Russia carried out massive airstrikes against the country from midnight on the 28th to early on the morning of the 29th.
President Biden said in a statement on Wednesday that unless Congress acts in the new year, the United States will not be able to continue sending Ukraine the weapons and vital air defense systems it needs.
He noted that Russia's overnight attack reminded the world that President Putin's war objectives remain unchanged.
Russia's largest ever missile attack on Ukraine leaves at least 12 dead.
