U.S. President Joe Biden issued a comprehensive executive order on the 4th aimed at curbing the record number of migrants flooding into the U.S.-Mexico border.
A new executive order allows immigrants who cross the border illegally to be quickly removed without processing their asylum claims.
Officials say the restrictions will go into effect when the average number of people crossing the border per day over a seven-day period reaches 2,500. The border will reopen to migrants in two weeks if the average number of people crossing the border per day is below 1,500 for seven consecutive days.
The White House said, ``These measures are taken in the event of a situation that the southern border is unable to respond to. Immigration authorities will be able to more easily remove individuals who do not have a legal basis to remain in the country.''

On the 6th, actor George Clooney called a senior Biden administration official and criticized the International Criminal Court's (ICC) chief prosecutor's request for an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, according to the Washington Post (electronic version). It was reported that he was expressing his dissatisfaction with President Biden's attitude.
Mr. Clooney's wife, who is a member of the ICC expert panel, expressed support for requesting an arrest warrant.
In May, Mr. Clooney called Presidential Advisor Ricchetti and expressed concern about Mr. Biden's comments about requesting an arrest warrant, calling it "outrageous." The newspaper said he was "exasperated" that the Biden administration was considering sanctions against ICC officials.
Mr. Clooney is a long-time supporter of the Democratic Party. His wife, Amal, is a human rights lawyer, and it appears that Amal was worried that he would be subject to sanctions.

President Biden (81) of the United States, who is visiting Italy for the G7 Summit, was absent from the G7 leaders' dinner on the 13th. Citing sources, Italian media reported that the cause of the injury was fatigue. As the presidential election in November approaches, there are growing concerns about his aging and declining physical strength.
The dinner was held at a medieval castle near the summit venue, and all leaders other than Mr. Biden attended. The White House said the reason for his absence was due to scheduling conflicts.
Mr. Biden was also late for the first discussion at the summit on the morning of the 13th. There was also a scene in which Italian Prime Minister Meloni, who was forced to wait at the entrance of the venue for about 20 minutes, joked to Mr. Biden, ``You shouldn't make women wait like this.''

Can't divulge where I heard this, but it was from someone who is intimately involved in her scheduling. Taylor Swift is a Biden supporter, but she is also a very busy woman. Right now, she is concentrating on her record-breaking worldwide tour. That's why she is taking the entire month of September off to rest and take care of non-concert issues. Things are just in the planning stages right now and nothing is chiseled in stone yet, but they are talking about her making her endorsement at her last concert before the break, and then appearing at one or two Biden rallies during the month. There is even talk about her writing a song for Biden, or perhaps changing some of the words of one of her existing songs to sing his praises. It's all just in the planning stages right now, so don't expect any kind of public announcement until it happens, but this will organize her Swifties into a formidable voting block what will have an unexpected effect on vote totals. Before long, I might become a swifty too.
