On Tuesday, Taylor Swift took home the global icon award at the 2021 Brit Awards, as she becomes both the first woman and first non-English artist to take home the award. She's also the youngest person to win the coveted prize. Wearing a sparkly two-piece Miu Miu outfit, Swift, 31, went on stage to give a powerful speech as she accepted the award from Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams, who called her one of the "biggest names in the history of music" and "an inspiration to people all around the world." "If anyone who knows me at all knows that Game of Thrones is my life. So, the fact that Maisie was here to present this, I want to grab you," she started. "I can't, since we're social distancing but thank you so much for coming here to do this." Swift thanked the people who made appearances during a sizzle reel about her career, including Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez, Zoë Kravitz and Annie Lennox. ("Taylor Swift is the same girl I met when I was 15. And she cares so deeply for her fans," Gomez said in it. "I wish I could be there to support you and hang out with you. You are amazing.") "My soul left my body when Annie Lennox was on that video. It was like 1000 surprise birthday parties and all your friends are like jumping out like, 'Ah!' and you're just like, 'This is the best," she said as she thanked the awards committee, her fans and also the National Health Service and essential workers. "Last year I even almost played Glastonbury, but we all know what happened next, the world changed. And I ended up putting out three albums instead," she said. "Making folklore and evermore was one of the most unique, cathartic, extraordinary experiences I've ever had."

After riding her Billboard Hot 100 hit "Drivers License" to the top earlier this year -- for eight weeks at No. 1 -- rising neophyte Olivia Rodrigo took center stage at the 2021 Brit Awards on Tuesday (May 11) with a performance of her debut single.
The 18-year-old delivered her hit ballad alongside a pianist and a harp player. Clad in a red gown, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series superstar had virtual butterflies floating all across the stage during her silky rendition.
Olivia Rodrigo Announces She's Dropping Her Third Single & Will Perform It on 'SNL' After giving fans a dose of her upcoming debut album Sour with her second single, "Deja Vu," on Monday (May 10), Rodrigo announced her new song titled "Good 4 U." Set to drop this Friday, she'll also perform the new track during her Saturday Night Live performance this weekend.
Last month, "Deja Vu" previously debuted at No. 8 on the Hot 100 after "Drivers License" spent a scorching eight weeks at the summit. Both records will reside on Sour, which drops May 21.

At last, the stars have aligned and Taylor “Global Icon” Swift has met her mini-me, Olivia Rodrigo, at this year’s Brit Awards. While the two have had a documented Internet friendship, with Rodrigo jamming out to Fearless (Taylor’s Version) alongside Conan Gray and Swift calling Rodrigo her “baby” on Instagram, they met in person for the first time at the award show, where Rodrigo also made her Brit’s debut with “Drivers License.” Accompanied by the piano and harp, Rodrigo sang a stripped back version of her breakout hit ahead of her appearance on Saturday Night Live this week. She also passed Swift a handwritten note at the Brit’s (a very Swiftian move, as Taylor loves a mysterious letter) along with notes to Harry Styles and Little Mix. Here’s hoping a collaboration is on the horizon.

Olivia Rodrigo's wildest dreams finally came true! Undoubtedly, the High School Musical series star had the best day of anyone at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday, May 11, when she met her superstar idol, Miss Taylor Swift, at long last. http://instagram.com/p/COwFKW4LumT Olivia, 18, posted photographic evidence that proved today was a fairytale, sharing a black-and-white pic of herself and Taylor making silly faces at the award show. Taylor, in her Miu Miu two-piece, puckered up for the camera, while Olivia was seen sticking her tongue out for the historic moment. She captioned the Instagram post with four puppy dog eye emojis and wrote on her Insta Story, "brits were a dream. never wanna leave!!!" Can't blame her. http://instagram.com/p/COyYw1HrYeM As fans know all too well, Olivia is a longtime Swiftie and became a "puddle of tears" when her debut single, "drivers license," soared to No. 3 on the U.S. iTunes chart behind Taylor's "it's time to go" and "right where you left me" in January. Olivia's reaction earned a memorable response from Taylor, who quoted her own mom Andrea Swift in her reply. "I say that's my baby and I'm really proud," the 31-year-old songwriter commented, cementing their relationship as faux mom and daughter forevermore. "what is breathing," the "deja vu" singer gushed in response. T-Swift then "sent my two kids" (that would be Olivia and fellow musician Conan Gray) her new version of "You Belong With Me" for a sneak peek ahead of its release last month. The kids recreated her original 2009 music video with a TikTok jam sesh that included the must-have handwritten signs. As Taylor wrote, "THEY ARE SO CUTE IT PHYSICALLY HURTS ME." Their interactions on social media made it all the more special when the stars finally met in person, with Conan commenting, "i love my sister and my mom." Their mutual friend, Iris Apatow, wrote, "Sweet angels."
