n her latest visual release, Olivia Rodrigo is going behind the scenes of her latest music video “Good 4 U” from her recently released debut album Sour. The visual was directed by Petra Collins and includes nods to cult feminist films of the 90s and early 2000s. “I play this sort of good girl with a dark secret,” Rodrigo explains of the character she takes on in the visual. “She has this monstrous undertone to her and they’re not quite sure what it is, and you just see her go completely crazy throughout the course of the music video.” The behind-the-scenes video breaks down the cheerleader choreography set in a school gym, but the most interesting inside look explores the moment in the “Good 4 U” video where Rodrigo’s volatile character sets fire to the bedroom of an ex. “I really love expressing feminine rage,” the musician shared, validating the anger presented on the pop-punk-themed track and visual. As the windows go up in flames while the room simultaneously floods, Rodrigo unleashes the anger that had been building up to the song’s bridge. In the final shot of the video, the singer delves into a pool shot to appear as a lake in a scene that draws parallels to the cult classic Jennifer’s Body.
