A New York state court on Wednesday ordered former President Trump to pay a $5,000 fine for refusing to take down social media posts defaming court officials.
A civil lawsuit brought by the state attorney general's office is continuing, alleging that Mr. Trump obtained loans under favorable terms from banks by falsely declaring the value of his family's assets. According to the New York Times and other newspapers, Trump posted false content on his social media attacking the staff assisting the judge in charge of the trial. The court ordered its deletion on the 3rd.
Although the post in question was deleted after receiving the order, the same content remained on Trump's campaign website for more than two weeks. Trump's lawyer apologized, saying the incident was "inadvertent" and unintentional. "Future violations, whether intentional or not, will be subject to much harsher sanctions," the decision said.

Trump Latest News | Colorado Trial Live | Court to Decide If Trump Be Barred from Elections | N18L
The Colorado Supreme Court heard arguments in a closely watched case about whether the US Constitution’s ban on insurrectionists holding public office applies to former President Donald Trump because of the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riot.
The seven-member court appeared divided at times, pushing back on arguments from both Trump and the challengers who want to remove him from Colorado’s presidential ballot in 2024. The justices didn’t say when they will issue their decision, which is expected to be appealed to the US Supreme Court, no matter which way they rule.
With support from bipartisan legal scholars, liberal groups filed lawsuits across the country to enforce the 14th Amendment’s insurrectionist ban. A new suit was filed Wednesday in Oregon during the Colorado hearing. But so far, these cases have fallen flat, keeping Trump on the ballot in Minnesota, Arizona, Michigan and elsewhere.
