The G7 summit has started in Cornwall, England, with Boris Johnson urging fellow leaders to "build back better" as the world recovers from the Covid pandemic.
The UK prime minister said it was vital to learn from the "mistakes" of the 2008 financial crisis and tackle the "scar" of inequality.
The leaders posed for the traditional "family photograph" as they gathered in the seaside resort of Carbis Bay.
US President Joe Biden is among those being hosted by Mr Johnson for the three-day meeting, as well as the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada.

The Queen caused G7 world leaders to break out into laughter as she cracked a joke when they posed for a photo at an evening reception hosted by the monarch on Friday.
‘Are you supposed to be looking as if you're enjoying yourself?’ she asked as they posed for photographers, to which Boris Johnson could be heard replying: ‘Yes, definitely. We have been enjoying ourselves in spite of appearances.’

G7 leaders seeking to rival China have adopted a plan to support lower- and middle-income countries in building better infrastructure.
President Joe Biden said he wanted the US-backed Build Back Better World (B3W) plan to be a higher-quality alternative to a similar Chinese programme.
Meanwhile, Boris Johnson spoke about England's lockdown restrictions and the UK and EU are in dispute about post-Brexit checks on goods moving from Britain to Northern Ireland.
