Emma Raducanu vs Sara Sorribes Tormo Full Match | 2021 US Open Round 3 Emma Raducanu’s search for a new coach could prove troublesome, according to Maria Sharapova’s former mentor, Michael Joyce. The former American tennis player started training Sharapova in 2004 –– helping her win three Grand Slam titles and become the world number one. In 2018, Joyce also coached Britain’s Johanna Konta, before splitting to mentor Canada’s, Eugenie Bouchard. And now, the mastermind behind Sharapova’s rise to the top of women’s tennis has admitted he was shocked to find out Raducanu had parted ways with her coach. The Brit announced her split with Andrew Richardson just weeks after her remarkable victory at the US Open and issued a plea for a more “experienced” coach. “I’d love to have someone with great experience right now by my side so if any experienced coaches are out there looking, you know where to find me,” she said after losing to Aliaksandra Sasnovich at Indian Wells. Joyce, however, is not convinced many coaches will be queuing up to work with the teenager. “I was really surprised with the wording of the statement that was released when Emma announced she was splitting with Andrew Richardson, saying she felt she needed someone with Tour-level experience,” he said.

Raducanu had been due to be back on court at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, which takes place between October 18-24. However, Raducanu announced on Thursday that she is unable to play at the event this year, and instead is looking forward to returning to the WTA Tour in the "next couple of weeks". "Unfortunately I've had to make a tournament schedule change and won't be able to play Moscow this year, but I hope to compete there and in front of the Russian fans next year," she said in a statement. "I look forward to returning to the tour in the next couple of weeks." Speaking after her 6-2 6-4 loss to Belarusian Sasnovich at Indian Wells - which came 27 days after her US Open triumph - Raducanu said she needed to "cut herself some slack" as she comes to terms with her new life as a Grand Slam champion. She said: "I'm kind of glad that what happened today happened so I can learn and take it as a lesson. So going forward, I'll just have more experienced banked. "I think it's going to take me time to adjust really to what's going on. I mean, I'm still so new to everything. "I mean, I'm 18 years old. I need to cut myself some slack."

U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu eased into the Transylvania Open quarterfinals with a controlled 6-3 6-4 win over home favourite Ana Bogdan in the second round on Thursday.
Raducanu followed up her maiden WTA Tour win over Polona Hercog -- a battling three-set victory on Tuesday -- with a much improved performance against Bogdan and looked steady on serve, winning 87.5% of her first serve points.
"It was so good to play a Romanian here. All the volunteers who go into making this tournament possible, we really appreciate their support. Ana was a great opponent," Raducanu said after the match.
"It's definitely taking me some time to find my feet still. I'm taking some learnings from every match I play. I still don't think I'm the finished product yet."
Raducanu, who announced herself on the grandest stage when she claimed the Flushing Meadows title as a qualifier last month, added that she has gifted her U.S. Open trophy to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
"I just thought the LTA had done so much for me and I just wanted them to have it as a sign for everything they had done for me. It's a little gift," the British No. 1 said.
Raducanu will next face 19-year-old Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.

British star Emma Raducanu is expecting a tough quarter-final encounter against fellow teenager Marta Kostyuk at the Transylvania Open on Friday.
Raducanu, who has recorded her first and second WTA Tour wins of her career in Romania this week, now faces a talented Ukrainian opponent who the Brit confessed ‘destroyed her’ in the junior ranks.
Kostyuk, who came through her encounter against Mona Barthel on Thursday, expressed her desire to face the US Open champion and got her wish after Raducanu later ousted Ana Bogdan 6-3 6-4.

The Ukrainian, just five months older than the US Open champion, made her own Grand Slam breakthrough in 2018 when she reached the third round of the Australian Open aged 15, and Raducanu is aware of her ability.
“Marta is a great opponent, she absolutely destroyed me in the juniors every single time, so it will be an interesting match, I’m looking forward to it,” said Raducanu.
“But she was playing full-time and practicing, on the road, from a very young age. She developed a lot of skills doing that. I kind of came from behind and caught up this year.”
Should Raducanu prevail, she could finally get the chance to meet her idol Simona Halep in the semi-final should the Romanian be victorious in her encounter.
The British star has previously voiced her desire to play against the two-time Grand Slam champion, which could provide an extra bit of motivation for the 18-year-old in her quarter-final clash on Friday.
