The family of Gabby Petito's fiancé Brian Laundrie, who authorities named a person of interest after the 22-year-old influencer went missing, has broken their silence about her death. His parents, who shared a North Port, Fla. home with the couple, issued a statement through their lawyer after the FBI and police confirmed on Tuesday, Sept. 21, that a body they found in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming was the missing 22-year-old travel blogger and influencer. A couple who live across the street from Brian Laundrie and his family told Fox News on Wednesday that they saw the 23-year-old and his parents leave their home in a truck with an attached camper about a week after Laundrie returned home alone from a cross-country road trip with his fiancée, Gabby Petito.
Authorities are still searching for Laundrie, who has been missing since last Tuesday and is a person of interest in Petito's death, which has been ruled a homicide.
Charlene and William Guthrie, who moved to North Port, Florida, this summer, said they told authorities they'd seen Christopher and Roberta Laundrie attach what appeared to be a new camper to their truck and drive off for what the Guthries assumed was a weekend camping trip with their son.
"I saw them doing some work. And then when they prepared for their trip, I saw them loading the camper," William Guthrie told Fox.
He said he thought it was odd for the parents to go on a camping trip with their adult son in a small camper.
The Guthries said they reported the incident when authorities came to their home while investigating the disappearance of 22-year-old Petito.
The North Port Police Department and the FBI did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.
Rebecca Ollier, an executive producer at WINK-TV, tweeted on Wednesday that a neighbor said they'd seen Laundrie leave the home with his parents and the camper on September 11, the same day Petito's mother reported her missing. It was unclear whether it was a different neighbor than William or Charlene Guthrie.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — The boyfriend of Gabby Petito, whose body was found at a national park in Wyoming after a cross-country trip with him, was charged with unauthorized use of a debit card as searchers continued looking for him Thursday in Florida swampland.
A federal grand jury indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Wyoming alleges Brian Laundrie used a Capital One Bank card and someone's personal identification number to make unauthorized withdrawals or charges worth more than $1,000 during the period in which Petito went missing. It does not say who the card belonged to.
FBI spokeswoman Courtney Bernal declined to reveal the nature of the charges made to the debit card.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider said an arrest warrant issued Wednesday over the alleged fraudulent use of the bank card will allow law enforcement across the country to continue pursuing Laundrie while the investigation continues into Petito’s homicide.
Laundrie has been named a person of interest in the 22-year-old woman's death. The case has garnered enormous public interest — but also raised uncomfortable questions over the unequal attention given to the hundreds of cases of Native American and other minority women missing or murdered across the United States.
In Florida, searchers on Thursday spent a fifth unsuccessful day searching for Laundrie in the forbidding wilderness preserve near his parents’ home.
The search at the Carlton Reserve park was set to resume Friday, said Joshua Tayler with the city of North Port, where the park is located. It began after Laundrie told his parents he was going there, several days after returning alone Sept. 1 from his trip out west with Petito.
The indictment says the unauthorized use of the debit card occurred from about Aug. 30 to Sept. 1.
Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino said it is his understanding that the arrest warrant was related to activities that occurred after the death of Petito, and not to her actual demise.

A second woman has emerged to claim she picked up Brian Laundrie while he was hitchhiking in Wyoming last month — and left him at the campground where his girlfriend Gabby Petito’s body was eventually found. Norma Jean Jalovec told Fox News that she came across Laundrie, 23, on Aug. 29 near Pacific Creek Landing — the same day TikToker Miranda Baker said she also picked him up in Grand Teton National Park. Jalovec said the now-wanted man got into the front seat of her Toyota 4Runner at about 6:15 p.m. — roughly 5 minutes after Baker said he abruptly got out of her Jeep after becoming agitated in the nearby area of Jackson Dam. In Baker’s SUV, Laundrie’s mood changed when she mentioned she and her boyfriend were heading to Jackson Hole. According to Jalovec, Laundrie asked her if she was heading to the same destination. When Jalovec said no, Laundrie requested to be driven to the Spread Creek Dispersed Campground — the area where Petito’s body was found Sunday. Brian Laundrie requested of the second woman who picked him up to be driven to the Spread Creek camping area — where Gabby Petito’s body was found. Similar to what Baker reported, Laundrie and Jalovec allegedly spoke about his fiancée and his time hiking near Snake River. Then Laundrie, according to Jalovec, requested to be let out at the campground gates.

FIRST ON FOX: Dog the Bounty Hunter arrived at Brian Laundrie’s parents’ home Saturday, knocked on the door and met silence, but he’s already picked up a scent. "The reason I went to Mr. [Christopher] Laundrie is I carry a reputation with me," he told Fox News Digital moments later. "The reputation is, ‘He gives you a second chance. He’s gonna get you, but he gives you a second chance.’" The reality TV star and legendary bounty hunter, whose real name is Duane Chapman, is a father of 13 who lost a daughter around the same age as Gabby Petito in a car accident in 2006. He was already in Florida on a honeymoon with his wife Francie Chapman, he said, when people began reaching out to him to look into Laundrie’s disappearance. "I know what the victims feel like," he said. Petito’s parents and stepparents spent Saturday preparing for a planned funeral for their daughter Sunday, a week after her remains were discovered at a campsite she shared with Laundrie in late August.
