Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 38, and Prince William, 37, left London with their three children last month and have been spending lockdown in Norfolk at their country home Anmer Hall. As strict social-distancing measures look likely to remain in place for weeks to come both Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one, face spending important milestones in lockdown. Royal fans were delighted to get a glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s little ones in an adorable video which showed Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one, all clapping to thank NHS staff. Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis both have birthdays coming up but they may have to cancel any party plans. Prince Louis will turn two on April 23 and while the royal is still too young to properly appreciate a birthday party, his mum Kate may have hoped to mark the milestone with a family get together. Kate is extremely close to her parents Carole, 65, and Michael Middleton, 70, and they are often roped in to help babysit their grandchildren. The doting grandparents will no doubt be missing George, Charlotte and Louis as the coronavirus crisis keeps them apart. Kate’s sister Pippa also has a baby boy - Arthur, one, and it may have been the family hoped to come together to mark Louis’ big day later this month. However, it’s not just Louis who may miss having a big birthday celebration this year. Princess Charlotte will be seven on May 2 and unless lockdown is lifted by then she may have to mark her big day in a muted fashion too.

As social distancing continues to be best practice in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, all social interactions have been moved online. Across the world, children are video chatting with their grandparents, including the little Cambridges. In an interview with the BBC, Prince William and Kate Middleton described the recent video calls between the children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and their grandparents, Prince Charles and Camilla and Carole and Michael Middleton. "I think your father and my parents and our families and things like that have really loved keeping in touch with the children, because they know it’s really hard," Kate said. However, using technology with, say, an older generation does not come without its challenges. Prince William confessed there has been a bit of a learning curve. "As you can imagine, the younger generation are a little bit more tech-savvy. But only just," William revealed. "I think we’re getting there now, the family are getting a little bit more used to being able to contact each other and pressing the right buttons and not dropping the computer halfway through." It's not just the older family members who have caused some complications. Prince Louis seems to be quite the troublemaker when it comes to video chatting. "It gets a bit hectic, I’m not going to lie, with the two-year-old," Kate conceded. "For some reason he sees the red button, and always wants to press the red button," William replied, laughing.

Princess Charlotte, the middle child of Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is turning 5. To celebrate her May 2 birthday, the Cambridges shared four new photos of Charlotte, who has become known for her big personality in front of cameras. The photos of Charlotte were taken last month by Duchess Kate at Sandringham Estate, where the Cambridges helped to pack and deliver food packages for isolated retirees in the local area, according to Kensington Palace. Charlotte and her brothers, Prince George, 6, and Prince Louis, who turned 2 last month, and William and Kate are staying at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk, following stay-at-home orders issued by the U.K. government because of the coronavirus pandemic. William and Kate have been homeschooling George and Charlotte, who both attend Thomas's Battersea, a private school in London. The school switched to virtual learning last month, at the same time that U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered all schools in the country closed until further notice.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very hands on when it comes to raising their children, but that doesn't mean they don't have a bit of extra help. And unsurprisingly, Princes George, Princess Charlotte and little Louis have one of the best nannies money can buy. Maria Borrallo trained at the prestigious Norland College and was hired by Kate and Wills back in 2014 when George was eight months old. She lives in Kensington Palace and travels with the family on visits and royal tours as a discrete presence. Maria is believed to be very strict with the royal children and like all Norland Nannies has a "no nonsense" approach. There are a number of rules nannies at the Bath college are taught to impose on the children in their care, so it's likely that George, Charlotte and Louis have to follow them. Norland expert Louise Heren told the Sun : "There will be no messing. That's because Maria will be aware that as they step off planes, holding mum's hands, smiling and waving to the crowds, there can't be any crying or terrible twos or tantrums."
