While admiring the men and women who earned medals at the Rio Games, Middleton shared that her 17-month old daughter has grown a love for horses while Prince George was a fan of swimming.
"I asked her how are the children, and she said George really enjoyed the fencing and Charlotte really enjoyed her riding. It obviously got to her and maybe she will be here in a few years time," equestrian gold medalist Natasha Baker said about her chat with the royal.
"She emphasized that Charlotte has this passion about horses, and although she doesn't echo it, she'll do her best to champion and encourage it."
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh hosted the celebratory evening and were joined by Middleton, Prince William, Prince Harry, the Duke of York and the Princess Royal, all of whom welcomed 240 guests including Prime Minister Theresa May.

The Cambridges were greeted on the tarmac in Berlin today ahead of their meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. But Prince George was preoccupied with a big sneeze which left him shaking off his hand in front of the German dignitaries. There's no denying that Prince George and Princess Charlotte managed to steal the limelight during this week's royal tour in Poland and Germany. As they touched down at Warsaw airport on Monday afternoon, young George looked overwhelmed when emerging from his private plane. After a little encouragement from his father Prince William, the three-year-old royal stayed close to his father and held his hand while stepping down the steps. His little sister was carried down the steps by their mother Kate, and she happily waved at onlookers upon her arrival.

Princess Charlotte's farewell to Germany was somewhat different - the young royal was less happy. The two-year-old broke down in tears after she appeared to have taken a tumble on the tarmac at Hamburg Airport on Friday afternoon. Walking side by side with her mother Kate, the adorable tot needed some encouragement before she embarked the helicopter with her parents and older brother Prince George. She was spotted rubbing her eyes as her family tried to comfort her.

While we know a lot about Prince George's interests and hobbies - namely flying, helicopters and of course endangered Australian animals like bilbys, little is known about his younger sister Princess Charlotte's likes and dislikes - until now. Yesterday, while visiting the Princess Diana garden at Kensington Palace with Prince William and Prince Harry, Kate Middleton told the Royal National Ballet's director Tamara Rojo that her youngest daughter 'absolutely loves to dance'.

Princess Charlotte appears to be following in cheeky Prince George's footsteps, as her dad has predicted she "will be trouble" when she's older. Prince William opened up about his two-year-old daughter during a visit to Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool as he spoke to patients who asked after the adorable young royals. Speaking to patient Pagan Tordengrav, 55, in the emergency department, William said: "I think she's going to be trouble when she's older. All fathers say that." Speaking to another patient Teresa Jones, 87, William said of Prince George's first day of school: "Most of the parents are in floods of tears and the children are absolutely fine." He added: "George rules the roost and Charlotte isn't far behind." The Duke of Cambridge occasionally opens up about his young children, previously describing George as a "little monkey" and Charlotte as a "little joy of heaven".
