Александра Трусова. Короткая программа. Женщины. Сызрань. Кубок России по фигурному катанию 2021/22
Alexandra Trusova won the short program of the first stage of the Russian Figure Skating Cup in Syzran. For her short program, the athlete received 74.53 points.
The second place in the short program is occupied by Elizaveta Tuktamysheva (70.66), the third - by Veronika Yametova (65.49).
After two transatlantic flights for two weeks, the skater refused to perform in the free program
After winning the short program, the bronze medalist of the World Figure Skating Championship, Alexandra Trusova, withdrew from the competition of the first stage of the Russian Figure Skating Cup in Syzran. Health problems were the cause, the federation said.
The fact that the coaching staff of Eteri Tutberidze's group proposed an extremely difficult schedule to the body of 17-year-old Alexandra Trusova was practically everyone's talk in the last month. Over the past 12 days, the young figure skater managed to perform at the test skates of the Russian national team in Chelyabinsk (it was there that she set a unique record by completing five quadruple jumps in a free program - none of the women have ever done this in front of the judges in history!), Then half the world flew by and won the US International Classic Challenger in Norwood, America (where the success was not so impressive - out of five quads in an arbitrary, Alexandra successfully landed only two). And now she made a return flight and showed up for the first stage of the Russian Cup in Saransk.
The logic in planning such an intense schedule for the athlete is probably there. Alexandra, obviously, has problems with the clean execution of long-learned jumps in competitions - in training and test runs, she does everything almost perfectly. And you can fight this only by continuous performances at any tournaments - both large and small - so that the psyche settles down, and the brain stops perceiving spectators, rivals and judges as a reason for stress. But, apparently, the treatment in the Tutberidze group was slightly overdone.
Alexandra started quite successfully in Syzran. She again skated her program to the music from "Frida", impressing the audience with her red-red image combined with Latin motives. True, she again failed the triple axel - Alexandra tore it off, but she was able to cope with all the other elements of the program and eventually took first place, beating Elizaveta Tuktamysheva by 4 points.
If this competition had some serious (and not training) value, then Sasha Trusova, for sure, would have continued to perform. With her set of jumps in the free program, it would be enough for her to complete at least half of the declared elements cleanly in order to keep the first place. But both for her and for her coaches (as well as for Tuktamysheva, by the way) the stage in Syzran is not valuable in itself. It is important precisely as another step to prepare for the selection for the Olympics.
For the sake of medals in Beijing, Trusova left Eteri Tutberidze's group for the Evgeni Plushenko Academy last summer , hoping to improve her jumping technique and get more time on the ice. For the sake of medals in Beijing, she returned to the Khrustalny group this year, deciding that this is where her preparation for the Olympics would be most effective. Withdrawal from the Russian Cup was also done for the sake of the Games.
A vague official message appeared on the official website of the Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) :
“The bronze medalist of the World Championship, Alexandra Trusova, will not be able to perform a free program at the first stage of the Russian Cup in Syzran. The athlete withdrew from the competition due to health problems."
But it can be translated into a common language simply: the coaches decided not to risk the athlete's health. She will be given the opportunity to take a breath and recover. And then they will again be sent across the ocean, but already to tournaments more serious than the stage in Syzran: Alexandra is announced for two North American stages of the Grand Prix series - Skate America, which will be held October 22-24 in Las Vegas, and Skate Canada (October 29-31) ... There, her strength will definitely come in handy.
