Boris Johnson, the former UK prime minister, deliberately misled Parliament committing a serious contempt, the Privileges Committee has concluded.
The report from MPs has been investigating whether Johnson deliberately misled MPs in statements to the Commons about so-called Partygate.
Last week, Johnson stepped down as a Conservative MP after being given advance sight of the Privileges Committee's report.

A brutal report from the Privileges Committee yesterday laid out how Boris Johnson as Prime Minister intentionally misled the House of Commons and the public, when he said of lockdown gatherings at Downing St 'all guidance had been followed completely'.
The reaction from Mr Johnson? Not humility or acceptance, but a doubling down, taking a leaf - in the eyes of some - straight out of Donald Trump's playbook. The report's conclusions were “rubbish” he said in a statement, ”a lie”, “deranged”, “a charade”, “a dreadful day for MPs and for democracy.” But in Boris Johnson’s resignation statement as an MP after learning of the committee’s conclusion, he said, “It is very sad to be leaving Parliament – at least for now.” So does the former prime minister have any realistic chance of a future in politics after this?
