A gold-medal winner at the Skate Canada Challenge earlier this season, Kelowna’s Olivia Gran has added a silver at the Canadian Tire National Figure Skating Championships in Halifax. Gran, a 12-year-old member of the Kelowna Skating Club, opened the national Novice event with a win in the short program, while her long program result left her just two points behind Canadian champion Aurora Cotop of Toronto. December, Gran captured gold in Edmonton at the Skate Canada Challenge with a national record of 130.23 points, 14 better than runner-up Cotop. Gran, the B.C. Sectional champion the past four years — in Juvenile, Pre-novice and Novice — finished fifth at the national Pre-novice championships last year and skated to a silver medal in Pre-Novice at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George.
