Like Smart, Mace is alarmed by the surprise announcement this week by Utah authorities, who said they had miscalculated her aunt's sentence and would release her from prison on Sept. 19. "From what I know, no family can take her in or would take her in," Mace said. Federal agents have found a place for Barzee to live when she starts her five-year supervised release, said Eric Anderson, the deputy chief U.S. Probation Officer for Utah. He declined comment on whether she will be in a private home or a facility, but she "will not be homeless," he said. Barzee has served the 15-year sentence she got in a plea deal the year she testified against street preacher Brian David Mitchell, her then-husband who kidnapped the girl from her bedroom at knifepoint. During her months in captivity, Smart said the older woman sat nearby and encouraged her husband as he raped the teenager.

Elizabeth Smart's kidnapper who was just released spent her first night of freedom going off the rails ... so much so, cops were called ... TMZ has learned. Wanda Barzee spent Wednesday night at a Salt Lake City hotel and, according to a guest staying in an adjacent room, Barzee went on a religious tirade. We're told she was wailing religious scripture at the top of her lungs. The guest also says Barzee was loudly praising Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism. A law enforcement source tells us a call came in to dispatch from a guest at the hotel, but when officers tried to call the complainant back, no one responded. They did not send a unit to check it out.

The father of Elizabeth Smart is touting the efforts of Indianapolis-based "Families First". The organization helps people in crisis. Ed Smart knows first hand what it is like to be in a crisis. His daughter was abducted in 2002, raped repeatedly and then found safely nine months later. Ed Smart became the face of the search and led the celebration when she was found in 2003.
"Elizabeth is amazing. Best case scenario. She's a mother of two and expecting her third. She does a lot of advocacy work, a lot of speaking," said Ed Smart.
Brian David Mitchell, the man convicted in the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping case, is serving a life sentence. But, the other abductor, Wanda Barzee, was recently released from prison. Ed Smart believes she remains a threat.
"I truly felt like Wanda was a threat. She's 72, 73 years old. Yet, the day she was released the media caught up with her and she started firing off at them, yelling and screaming. It was if she was the same person when she was incarcerated," said Smart.
