It looks like everyone in Britain is worried about their future, including Queen Elizabeth and the entire British royal monarchy. There's a new report that says the Queen, along with Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton are all worried about what's next after the British population voted to "exit" from the European Union. What's more, after many people voted "Brexit" they are beginning to have a change of heart and want to "Bremain," mostly because of the carnage that ensued after the referendum. The pound plummeted, international markets went haywire and the American stock exchange dropped by 600 points on Friday. And that's only the beginning. "She likes unity," explains Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of The Queen's Speech. "The whole situation will worry her. She is 90, has lived through a world war and she doesn't want any more change. She will be saddened and a little bit worried. She would think we partnered with Europe and we mustn't let them down. The whole point of the EU was that we might be a united Europe and wars wouldn't happen again."

Queen Elizabeth II took Princess Kate on a drive through her Balmoral estate on Saturday, following in her long tradition of taking the wheel while out in the country. The monarch wore a casual look which featured a green vest over a navy blue blouse. (Sadly she was not wearing one of her favorite country accessories – a silk headscarf.) Kate meanwhile looked like the epitome of English country chic in a green jacket, brown scarf and her long brunette locks pulled back in a tortoise shell-patterned headband.

The Queen caused a stir in a branch of Waitrose this week, when she was seen browsing the aisles during a visit to Poundbury, Dorset with Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. The monarch took a short tour of the supermarket, taking particular interest in the dairy produce on offer, as she chatted to marketing director Rupert Thomas. She also paused to admire the bright collection of flowers that greeted her at the entrance. Thursday's visit was held to honour the anniversary of the opening of the Poundbury estate – an experimental Dorset village designed by Charles, which focuses on creating an integrated community of shops, businesses and private and social housing.

The Queen has been awarded a 66% pay rise to fund a £369m 10-year refit of Buckingham Palace designed to future-proof the ageing building, it has been announced. Theresa May, Philip Hammond and the Queen’s keeper of the privy purse, Sir Alan Reid, who are the royal trustees, agreed that the temporary pay increase was the best way to pay for urgent repairs. The major refit, which has been described as essential, will see miles of ageing cables, lead pipes, electrical wiring and boilers replaced, some for the first time in 60 years. Officials said an independent, specialist report had concluded that without urgent work “there is a risk of serious damage to the palace and the precious royal collection items it houses from, amongst other scenarios, fire and water damage”. The money will come from a 66% increase in the sovereign grant – the funding formula under which the Queen normally receives 15% of the annual profit from the crown estate. She will now receive 25% for the 10 years the work is taking place. When it is finished in 2027, the grant should be returned to 15%, the royal trustees said.

The Queen is stepping down from 25 of the 600 organisations she is patron of at the end of this year, Buckingham Palace has announced. The move sees the 90-year-old monarch pass the baton of a chunk of her charity work to younger members of her family. The patronages passed on include Wimbledon, which the Duchess of Cambridge has taken over, as well as Barnardo's, Save the Children UK and the NSPCC. Prince Harry has been confirmed as the new patron of the RFU, England rugby's governing body, with Prince William expected to take on the role with Wales' WRU. Relinquishing the patronages follows the Queen's decision three years ago to stop long-haul travel and also to hand over duties such as some investitures to other royals.
