Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has made one fan’s day by joining him for a spot of busking on one of his biggest hits. The flamboyant frontman was in Moscow as part of a live tour, which included a massive free concert on Lubyanskaya Ploshchad, when he decided to accompany Russian busker Alexander Anisimov in an impromptu rendition of his ballad I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing. As Alexander strummed along on his guitar, Steven belted out the track from disaster movie Armageddon much to the delight of onlookers. The 67-year-old, dressed in standard rock star uniform of jeans and a leather jacket, then encouraged his new guitar-playing pal to join in with the vocals, although the US star seemed to be improvising a little with the lyrics. At the end of the performance, the pair high-fived and hugged before posing for pictures in front of their cheering audience. “I didn’t recognise him at all,” Alexander reportedly told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. “A foreigner came up to me and started singing along … ‘He sings well,’ I thought. “But when he started to sing louder and more confidently, it dawned on me who it was. I was stunned.”

One can never get enough of the stories where your musical hero approaches you in the street out of the blue and sings along to your playing. That’s what Steven Tyler of Aerosmith just did in Moscow! Aerosmith had just arrived in town to celebrate Moscow’s 868th birthday, with festivities due to take place the following day around the city, despite the rain and slightly chilly temperatures. Moscow’s Arbat promenade is thought of as the city’s most renowned walkway, bustling with shops and eateries, and the occasional rock musician – a mainstay throughout the decades, even before the restaurants arrived. One such busker got the surprise of a lifetime when Tyler, who fronts one of the nation’s favorite bands ever, simply strolled up to him and offered to do ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’.

Aerosmith dialed up some sweet emotion for their fans in kicking off their Las Vegas residency, Deuces Are Wild, on Saturday night. While the band has no shortage of personality, Aerosmith mainly stuck to the music at the opening night of their show, keeping the chatter to a minimum while peppering in some fan favorites from the band’s very early days with many of their most well-known songs. The show, which began with a lengthy video discussing the history of Aerosmith, amounts to an audible history of the group’s five decades together.

Steven Tyler recently announced that Aerosmith bandmate Joey Kramer broke his foot, and Tyler let Kramer participate in a recent show in Oxon Hill, Maryland as a singer on “Same Old Song And Dance.” Tyler even went backstage to let Kramer be part of the show, despite being unable to drum. VooDooMedicineMan posted on the Aeroforce forums about a show a couple of days ago, “I just got back from the concert and the band is still as impressive as ever. I tried to avoid Youtube videos and set lists leading up to the show this time around. Not that I was expecting to be surprised, and I did read a few from time to time, but I figured that would make the show seem a little fresher. Hearing Hangman Jury live was on my bucket list, and I kind of expected to hear it. But reading setlists show after show year after year can make songs that I haven’t seen much seem like the same old same old. So Hangman was a big treat, then Eat the Rich, Same Old Song and Dance, Toys, Seasons and Last Child are all good rotational songs that are out more than they are in. Joey was still out. Steven said he broke his ankle kicking his ass in rehearsals. I think Steven made another joke referencing the Simpsons appearance referring to the ‘Sprinfield’ crowd as ‘St Louis’, but I didn’t hear it clearly.
