Roger Federer to retire from tennis after Laver Cup 2,729 views Sep 16, 2022 All-time great Roger Federer has announced his retirement from tennis at the age of 41, with next week's Laver Cup in London set to be his final event.
Federer won 20 major trophies and a record 103 ATP titles over the course of his 24-year career, including eight Wimbledon titles, and established himself as one of the most successful tennis players the sport has ever seen.
But he has spent the best part of the last two years on the sidelines and underwent triple knee surgery in that time. In a post on his social media pages on Thursday, Federer broke the news: "As many of you know, the past three years have presented me with challenges in the form of injuries and surgeries. I’ve worked hard to return to full competitive form.
