Kyiv, Ukraine (CNN) On January 29th, General Zarzhny, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was called to a meeting at the presidential palace and was told that he would be dismissed. Two sources familiar with the matter confirmed this to CNN. Speculation has been rife in recent weeks about the tense relationship between President Zelenskiy and Zarzhny.
There has been no official announcement of his dismissal, and as of the night of the 31st, Zarzhini still held the position of commander-in-chief. However, one of the sources said an executive order announcing his dismissal is expected to be issued within the week. If completed, it would be Zelenskiy's most extensive military overhaul since the start of Russia's nearly two-year-long all-out invasion.
It was widely known that there had been a conflict between Mr. Zelensky and Mr. Zarzhny after the Ukrainian military's failed reversal offensive last year. In particular, tensions are said to have accelerated in November when Zarzhiny described the war with Russia as a stalemate in an interview with the British magazine The Economist.

Kyiv, Ukraine CNN — Ukraine’s popular army chief Valery Zaluzhny was called to a meeting at the president’s office on Monday and told he was being fired, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN, following weeks of growing speculation over tensions between Volodymyr Zelensky and his top commander.
A formal announcement has not been made, meaning Zaluzhny was still in post as of Wednesday evening, however, a presidential decree is expected by the end of the week, one of the sources told CNN, in what would be the biggest military shakeup by Zelensky since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion almost two years ago.
Rumors of the meeting, and Zaluzhny’s dismissal, exploded around Kyiv on Monday evening, lent credibility by a rift widely understood to have opened up between the president and his commander-in-chief following the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive last year.

MOSCOW, November 17. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is concerned that a new "Maidan"-type coup is being plotted in Ukraine in order to oust him, and he says Russia is behind these plans, Bloomberg reported after Zelensky’s meeting with foreign reporters.
"We receive this information from our intelligence and our partners," he said.
Zelensky claimed that the operation, which he dubbed "Maidan-3," is allegedly being plotted by Russia in order to carry out a coup in Ukraine.
Recently, the Ukrainian media has been actively reporting that a rift exists inside the Ukrainian ruling elite. In particular, they point out the controversies between Zelensky and top military brass, including Ukrainian armed forces commander General Valery Zaluzhny. Previously, Zaluzhny published an article for The Economist in which he essentially criticized the Ukrainian offensive strategy.

[Kiiv Kyodo] On the 2nd, the electronic version of the Washington Post reported that the Ukrainian government informed the US White House of President Zelenskiy's decision to dismiss Commander-in-Chief of the Zarzhniy Army. It is unclear when he will be dismissed. White House officials said it was the Ukrainian president's decision and did not support or oppose it. This was reported as a story from a person involved.
It is said that Mr. Zelenskyy met with Mr. Zarzhiny on January 29th and informed him of his intention to replace him soon. If a decision is made to replace him, public opposition is expected to increase, and there is a risk that domestic unity will be shaken.
