BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán spoke by phone with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary-General Stoltenberg, telling him that the Hungarian government supports Sweden's membership in NATO. Prime Minister Orban made the announcement on the short message posting site X (formerly Twitter) on the 24th.
In a post on X, he pointed out that the Hungarian government reaffirmed its support for Sweden's membership in NATO. Secretary-General Stoltenberg said he would continue to urge the Hungarian parliament to vote in favor of Sweden's membership in NATO and to complete ratification as soon as possible after the recess.
Secretary General Stoltenberg said after the phone call that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the Hungarian government clearly support Sweden's membership in NATO. "I look forward to ratification as soon as Congress reconvenes," he wrote on X.
