Simone Biles had a busy 2016 Summer Olympics, winning four gold medals and one bronze – and even leading Team U.S.A. as the flag-bearer at the very rainy closing ceremonies on Sunday. So it's understandable that the 19-year-old gymnast might be a little exhausted after her run in Rio, and try to catch some zzz's on the long flight home from Rio. Well, understandable to everyone but teammate Aly Raisman, apparently. The 22-year-old women's gymnastics captain caught Biles snoozing on the plane Monday night, teasing her pal in a sweet Instagram post.

The U.S. women’s national team is out of the Olympics. In a stunning upset, the Americans suffered their earliest loss in a major tournament on Friday to Sweden. And yet, from early on in the match, it felt like the No. 1-ranked USWNT was very vulnerable. On paper, you could say the Americans lost in the roll of the dice that is penalty kicks — but that’s not really true. You could say that the USWNT players just didn’t have good games and that may be true, but it’s not really the full picture. In some ways, it looked like the game plan itself didn’t set the players up to succeed. The directive from the top seemed clear within minutes: When in doubt, just loft the ball into the box and push up field. Crosses from the flanks. Long balls from the back end. Just get the ball up the field and hope that Alex Morgan or someone can do something with it. It felt like a regression to a previous era of the national team when the team expected pure athleticism and speed would win games. And that’s a strategy that can still have utility for the USA — but it can’t be the main strategy, and it’s especially unwise against a tall, physical team that bunkers deep like Sweden did on Friday.

Goalkeeper Hope Solo has decided to end her season with the Seattle Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League. The beleaguered goalkeeper, who was handed a six-month suspension and saw her contract with U.S. Soccer terminated last week, announced her departure from her professional club team in a statement Tuesday. U.S. Soccer suspended Solo after disparaging comments she made about Sweden during the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, calling her opponents a “bunch of cowards” for their defensive style of play during the quarterfinals. She won’t be eligible for selection to the national team again until February.

The Royals were out in force to host the stars of the Rio 2016 Games and they spent time speaking to all the medal winners, including champion swimmer Ellie Simmonds, gymnast Max Whitlock and boxer Nicola Adams. Kate Middleton, 34, stunned in a patriotic poppy dress by Alexander McQueen which she paired with red suede heels. The long-sleeved white number, which was cinched in at the waist, showcased the mother-of-two's enviable frame as she spoke to the athletes. During a chat with equestrian gold medallist Natasha Baker, Kate revealed Princess Charlotte loves riding and horses and Prince George is fascinated by fencing.
