A recent statement from the first lady’s office seems to make a bold claim about Melania Trump. “She does not wear fur,” Stephanie Grisham, Trump’s East Wing communications director said via email to CNN. If true, this would mean Trump has officially joined the likes of former first lady Michelle Obama and former French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in refraining from wearing fur. Aside from Grisham’s comment, there’s another shred of evidence that Trump is wearing faux fur these days. Animal activist and minimal makeup enthusiast Pamela Anderson shared a thank-you note she received from the first lady for a faux fur coat she had sent as a gift.

Fashionistas and foreign-policy watchers were buzzing over the first lady’s clothing choices Saturday. Melania Trump wore a flowing black pantsuit with black patent stilettos, a chunky neck chain, and a wide golden belt when she debarked Air Force One in Saudi Arabia — and she did not cover her head. Some observers saw the decision as a gesture of independence by a first lady who is still easing into her public role. Women in the kingdom, including visitors, are ordinarily required to cover their hair, according to Islamic custom.

Melania Trump and son Barron have moved into the White House - five months after her husband Donald took office. Mrs Trump and the couple's 11-year-old son had stayed behind in New York so Barron could finish the school year. The decision was seen as strange by some, as she was the first presidential spouse in recent years not to relocate to the capital immediately. Her predecessor, Michelle Obama, even moved to Washington early to get her daughters settled in their new school

In a flame-red skirt suit, U.S. first lady Melania Trump cut a striking contrast with her French counterpart Brigitte Macron in white during a Thursday visit to Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. But the women had one thing in common: French fashion. The American first lady, a Roman Catholic, requested a tour of the famed cathedral as part of her two-day trip to the French capital in which she took her own path from her husband, President Donald Trump, and garnered praise for her spot-on wardrobe diplomacy. Trump’s demure wool attire with a cinched waist came from the age-old Parisian fashion house Christian Dior and riffed on its signature Bar Jacket. The first lady and her French-born stylist Herve Pierre picked it to celebrate Dior 70th anniversary this year.
