The royal mom of three and Prince William are hosting some of their closest friends at their country home at Anmer Hall in Norfolk this weekend as they mark Kate’s 38th birthday, which is on Thursday. On Sunday, the partygoers joined Queen Elizabeth at St. Mary Magdalene church on her Sandringham estate for Sunday morning service. Kate’s friends and family were seen walking up the familiar path where Prince George, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 4, made their Christmas Day debut just days ago. Among the guests included Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as the Duke of Cambridge’s lifelong friend Tom van Straubenzee and fiancée Lucy Lanigan-O’Keeffe — who is a teacher at Thomas’s Battersea, the school attended by George and Charlotte — and friends James Meade and his wife Laura. Also in attendance were David and Rose, Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley. Kate wore a multi-colored coat and a blue fedora hat by Hicks & Brown for the outing, while the Queen opted for a purple coat and hat.

Remember last summer? When the internet was besieged by insane tabloid reports of a rift among Kate Middleton, Prince William, and a family friend named Rose Hanbury, aka the Marchioness of Cholmondeley (which is inexplicably pronounced “Chumley”)? Yeah, well, she and Kate were just spotted chilling at church together ahead of Kate’s birthday and, yep, there are pics. Here’s Kate wearing a jaunty hat: To recap last year’s drama in case you blocked it all out (fair), here’s the deal: Rose and her husband, David, live super close to Kate and William’s Anmer Hall country home, and they run in the same fancy social circles. But back in March 2019, there were tabloid reports that Kate wanted Rose “phased out” of their friend group due to an alleged falling out. And then Twitter started chatting about false (again for everyone in the back: F-A-L-S-E) allegations that Prince William cheated on Kate with Rose, which have no basis in truth. But clearly, Kate and Rose are on perfectly good terms if they’re spending weekends together, so bye @ 2019 drama! Also, for what it’s worth, Daily Mail royal reporter Richard Kay said those rumors were fake news, writing, “Both sides have considered legal action, but because none of the reports have been able to offer any evidence about what the so-called dispute is about, they have chosen to ignore it....These hurtful rumors of a fallout are simply false.”

Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s upcoming date night at the BAFTAs comes with an unexpected fashion twist! The royal couple have confirmed that they will once again attend the glitzy event, but there’s a new dress code in place this year. Guests attending the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards — the British equivalent of the Oscars — on February 2 have been asked to “dress sustainably,” according to the London College of Fashion. “This awards season BAFTA are doing more than ever before to consider sustainability across its awards ceremonies, including inviting guests to ‘dress sustainably,’” the style guide reads. Guests are being encouraged to be a “voice for change” by re-wearing, renting or wearing vintage. If guests do insist on buying something new then a list of sustainable brands, including Reformation and Stella McCartney (coincidently both favorites of Meghan Markle), have been suggested.

On Saturday, Queen Elizabeth appointed her grandson as the new Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. In the position, William will become the British monarch’s personal representative to the Church of Scotland, carrying out various official visits and ceremonial duties. William, 37, takes over the role from Richard Scott, the 10th Duke of Buccleuch and 12th Duke of Queensberry. Before Scott, Princess Anne held the position. The appointment comes as William’s brother Prince Harry and Harry’s wife Meghan Markle step back as senior members of the royal family. Last week, Queen Elizabeth and her family — including William, Harry and Prince Charles — cemented an agreement for the terms of Harry and Meghan’s royal exit. After a period of transition that ends this spring, Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, will lose their “Royal Highness” titles, repay renovation costs to their Frogmore Cottage home and split their time between North America and the U.K.

Kate Middleton has unveiled her latest photographic project: moving portraits of two Holocaust survivors and their families.
She invited the two survivors to Kensington Palace so she could capture the striking images alongside their grandchildren. The portraits will form part of a new exhibition that will open later this year, bringing together 75 powerful images of survivors and their family members to mark 75 years since the end of the Holocaust. In all, six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.
Kate paid tribute to the “life-affirming” stories of those she met and says she is honored to help tell their stories for future generations. With that theme in mind, Steven Frank, 84, was pictured alongside his granddaughters Maggie and Trixie Fleet, 15 and 13, and Yvonne Bernstein, appears in a photograph with her granddaughter Chloe Wright, 11.
The royal mom of three said, “The harrowing atrocities of the Holocaust, which were caused by the most unthinkable evil, will forever lay heavy in our hearts. Yet it is so often through the most unimaginable adversity that the most remarkable people flourish. Despite unbelievable trauma at the start of their lives, Yvonne Bernstein and Steven Frank are two of the most life-affirming people that I have had the privilege to meet.”
