The Queen has been talking to a horse, while Camilla feeds them sweets on a royal visit to Ebony Horse Club in Brixton. The Queen and The Duchess of Cornwall today made a rare joint engagement when they visited a community riding school in the heart of Brixton, south London. Camilla was at her mother-in-law’s side as they visited the Ebony Horse Club. The joint visit today will be seen as further confirmation of The Queen’s support for Camilla’s public role and future status. Mark of confidence: the joint engagement will be seen as a confirmation of the Queen's support for the Duchess. Established in 1996 the charity they visited today enables children and young South Londoners to learn to ride and care for horses. The royals arrived together and be greeted by Miss Sue York, Chairwoman of Ebony Horse Club, and Miss Ros Spearing, Director of Ebony Horse Club. Prince Charles has told the Islamic Economic Forum that drought and the depletion of natural resources were "significant" contributors to the "social tension" in Syria.
The Prince of Wales used his keynote speech at the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum in London this evening to warn of the political and economic dangers of climate change, and used Syria as a "terrifyingly graphic" example of the adverse effects of climate change on vulnerable populations. Opening the forum, Prince Charles said drought, poor food security and rapid urbanisation contributed to the social tension that ignited into the 2011 uprising.
"The tragic conflict in Syria provides a terrifyingly graphic example, where a severe drought for the last seven years has decimated Syria's rural economy. Driving many farmers off their fields and into cities where, already, food was in short supply. This depletion of natural capital, inexplicably, little reported in the media, was a significant contributor to the social tension that exploded with such desperate results."

Kate Middleton has become "very fond" of Prince Harry's girlfriend Cressida Bonas, dispelling rumours she did not approve of the 24-year-old dance graduate. A royal insider has said Bonas has been accepted into the royal family and will begin making more formal appearances with Harry in the near future. A source told the Sun that the real reason Bonas did not attend the christening of Prince George was so as not to divert attention from the ceremony. Before the christening, a number of reports emerged that Bonas would be attending the ceremony, which would indicate her relationship with Harry was very serious. According to the newspaper, Harry approached William before the christening to tell him about his "immense" feelings for Bonas, explaining they were concerned that if she attended, it would have been seen as her first official royal engagement. "Wills and Kate have grown very fond of Cressie and the time was right to move things forward in terms of protocol," the source said. The socialite stepped out for coffee in London on Tuesday while wearing Isabel Marant-esque wedge sneakers.

It was claimed today that the former editor Andy Coulson did not just know about hacking, but actually ordered it. Princes William and Harry were targeted by the News of the World after editor Andy Coulson authorised the illegal hacking of phones, it was alleged yesterday. A jury was told that Coulson wanted royal exclusives and agreed that private detective Glenn Mulcaire should be paid £500 a week to access voicemails. Aides were targeted while William was dating Kate Middleton and while both princes were at Sandhurst college. Coulson knew a transcript of a voicemail Harry left for his private secretary had been obtained by Mulcaire’s hacking, the court heard. During Friday's prosecution opening statements, the court was also told: - The then editor of the (NoW), Andy Coulson, told a senior journalist investigating an exclusive story on television celebrity Calum Best to "do his phone" - Goodman emailed Mr Coulson in 2003 to ask if he could pay a police officer £1,000 for a royal telephone directory - In that email, Goodman said: "These people will not be paid in anything other than cash because if they're discovered selling stuff to us they end up on criminal charges, as could we." - Journalists at the News of the World used hacking as a "perfectly rational but entirely illegal" way of standing up stories - Targets included former Home Secretary Charles Clarke, actors Jude Law and Sienna Miller, and former aide to Prince William and Prince Harry, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton - While editor at the Sun, Rebekah Brooks personally authorised payments to an MoD official to get stories first, some involving the deaths of members of the armed forces
