In a "60 Minutes” interview that aired Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump called on those who were committing hateful, harassing or violent acts in his name to “stop it.” Since Election Day, there has been a spike in racist and intimidation incidents across the country. At least three organizations have documented the rise in graffiti, slurs and threats directed at minority groups over the past week. At a California Veterans Day parade, people showed up with three Confederate flags. Muslim Americans have received death threats and black freshmen at the University of Pennsylvania were the target of slurs and a “daily lynching calendar.” When "60 Minutes” correspondent Lesley Stahl asked Trump if he had heard such reports, he said he had not. “I am very surprised to hear that,” he said. “I hate to hear that, I mean I hate to hear that.”

Last night, at a concert stop in San Jose on his Saint Pablo Tour, Kanye West told the crowd that he would’ve voted for Donald Trump had he voted in the presidential election. He lauded Trump’s rhetorical style, as well as his campaign approach, which he called “absolutely genius.” An extended video from the evening (pointed out by Pigeons & Planes) finds West expounding further on his vocal support for Trump. Despite his now-vocal support for Trump, West backed Hillary Clinton’s campaign financially. As SPIN points out, Federal Election Commission records show that West has made four individual contributions to Democratic campaigns since 2012. In addition to two Obama donations in September 2012, West donated $15,000 to the Democratic National Committee in October 2014. He followed that with a $2,700 donation to Hillary for America in July 2015. (His Hillary donation was larger than his Obama donations combined.)
