In anticipation of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, Lucasfilm and Disney are releasing several new toy lines — and they feature key art from the new movie. Although the poster used for The Force Awakens toys was a simple picture of Kylo Ren, the #StarWars8 toys will all sport this dynamic poster of the central trio: Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron.
In a strikingly different look from The Force Awakens, Rey's shorter hair now falls loose around her shoulders, though it appears to be pulled back into a bun at the back. But even more noticeably, she's wielding the iconic Skywalker lightsaber, a determined and confident expression on her face. This implies that, although Rey offered the saber to Luke in the final moments of Star Wars Episode VII, she will continue to fight with this weapon — and won't get her own lightsaber, as fans were hoping she would. (Personally, I thought double-bladed green would be cool. But hey, there's always #StarWars9.)

Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Naomi Ackie and Kelly Marie Tran explain how fans should interpret the Dark Side Rey reveal in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker D23 Expo sizzle. Daisy Ridley was also totally surprised that the scene was included in the Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker reel, as she revealed to us backstage during the star-studded press line: I went to Bad Robot yesterday and I was like, 'Hey, can I see the teaser'? They were like, 'Yeah, yeah.' No warning. And I watch, and went [inhales deeply] 'Oh my god, are you really putting that in there?' That was my reaction. And then watching it today, it was weird because I felt nervous with it coming because I knew it was going to be. And then hearing the audience reaction was amazing.

The force is strong with Rey, but the dark side and a fancy new dual lightsaber may be even more compelling in a new look at “Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker.”
Director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy unveiled exclusive footage from the final film of sequel trilogy at the D23 Expo on Saturday in Anaheim, California, and now it’s here for the rest of the internet to obsess over.
In the two-minute sizzle reel, we see flashes of iconic “Star Wars” moments through the years with a voiceover from the late Luke Skywalker teasing the climactic battle to come before we arrive in the present with Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega).
There are glimpses of unexplored planets, familiar faces ― including Carrie Fisher’s Leia ― and new ones, as well as of an epic lightsaber clash between our hero and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in the middle of what looks like a stormy sea.
Abrams revealed on stage at the expo that Fisher, who shot scenes for “The Force Awakens” before her death that will be repurposed in the final sequel, is “really in a way the heart of this story.”
Ridley admitted she was shocked that her character’s dark side reveal was included in the footage.
“I went to Bad Robot yesterday and I was like, ‘Hey, can I see the teaser’? They were like, ‘Yeah, yeah.’ No warning. And I watch, and went [inhales deeply] ‘Oh my god, are you really putting that in there?’ That was my reaction,” Ridley told CinemaBlend. “And then watching it today, it was weird because I felt nervous with it coming because I knew it was going to be. And then hearing the audience reaction was amazing.”

New footage from Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, shown at Disney fan expo D23 over the weekend, is now available online. It's not a true trailer, but instead what entertainment industry types call a "sizzle reel," throwing together highlights to get fans excited about the December film. So you'll see a baby-faced Luke and Cinnabon-haired Leia, and then race through the rest of the films in the Star Wars saga building, of course, to the new footage. And though it's not long, the new footage dangles some tempting new tidbits. The biggest ones involve Rey (Daisy Ridley), the main heroine of the three latest films. Here are three unanswered questions about Rey that loom even larger now that we've seen the new footage. Her parents We still don't know quite who Rey is, or whether it matters, and here, the new footage offers zero help. She may be an orphaned scavenger born to the galaxy's most uncaring parents ("filthy junk traders," according to Kylo Ren). But it seems more likely she's somebody else, maybe with a complex family history. Luke's daughter? Han Solo's daughter? Kylo Ren's twin? A clone? Or is she just a super-Force-sensitive kid that Emperor Palpatine tried to claim, as one theory runs?

The 27 year old actress spoke with People at the convention in Anaheim, California, where she teased the final film of the Star Wars 'Skywalker Saga' will be 'very satisfying' for fans. 'The end fight, we're fighting each other,' she said. 'It's, I think, a very satisfying story because also we've mined this story, because also, leaving 8 (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), I was like, I guess, you know we've sort of mined that relationship. No no, we've mined it some more.' 'What's going on? Am I running away? Am I running towards?,' Ridley added about the opening shot from the first trailer, where she was running in the desert before leaping over Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) TIE Fighter ship.
