HAMILTON ISLAND—I have one degree of separation with Taylor Swift. Because of a koala. His name is Willy, and he lives on Wild Life Hamilton Island, a reserve for marsupials, snakes, lizards, koalas, kangaroos, and a crocodile. "Thank you to the Australian Wildlife Conservation Fund for letting us hang out with Willy," Swift captioned the Instagram photo she posted of her, her mother Andrea, and brother Austin with Willy. "WE LOVE HIM and will miss him terribly." I had a chance to hug Willy earlier this year when he stopped by to greet guests at Qualia, a luxury resort where Swift and her entourage stayed this week. He smelled of eucalyptus and clung to me like a baby, even though he is 12 years old, mature for a koala. I had less than a minute with him. Cuddling time is restricted so as not to tire or stress out the koala.

Jared Leto apparently had some mixed feelings about Taylor Swift 's 1989 album—and he presumably didn't plan on her ever finding that out, but the Internet wouldn't comply. TMZ just released a video filmed a few months back of Leto and one of his 30 Seconds to Mars bandmates going through some of the more popular songs on the soundtrack for musical inspiration. The Suicide Squad actor starts off listening to "Welcome To New York," which he immediately dismisses. Next comes "Blank Space," which he seems to dig more than the first tune, saying, "I like this verse, actually." (He's even as confused as the rest of us were about that mysterious line for Starbucks lovers...?) The video ends with the actor's harshest comment, which left Swifties outraged.

When Camille Paglia says Taylor Swift has an "obnoxious Nazi Barbie routine," you know a frenzy can't be far behind. Paglia, the often-quotable cultural critic and academic who has a history of ruffling feathers with her blunt assessments of performers, celebrities and other pop culture figures, struck again with an essay in The Hollywood Reporter in which she took on Swift and her "girl squad" pals. "In our wide-open modern era of independent careers, girl squads can help women advance if they avoid presenting a silly, regressive public image -- as in the tittering, tongues-out mugging of Swift's bear-hugging posse," she wrote. "Swift herself should retire that obnoxious Nazi Barbie routine of wheeling out friends and celebrities as performance props."

Taylor Swift candidly opened up to Apple Music's Beats 1 radio host Zane Lowe about her fears, her vulnerability, and what this past year has shown her — including what it's like to come under constant scrutiny. The interview was broadcast yesterday, five days before her "1989" tour documentary debuts on Apple Music, marking the first time she's let cameras film an entire concert. Swift credits the letter she wrote criticizing Apple for not properly compensating artists as the "starting point" of her relationship with the company. "It got more attention than I thought it would, because I've been echoing these sentiments for years in various ways," she said. "I was just thinking the way it would go over is, 'Here's Taylor nagging again about compensation for writers, producers.' For anyone who wants to create music, for any little kid who's taking piano lessons right now, I want them to have an industry to go into." She also explained that she gets scared when thinking about people trying to find problems with what she's done, but understands that it's an unfortunate part of her job. Swift recently came under fire from a prominent feminist critic who called her "1989" tour a "Nazi Barbie routine." "Something that scares me a little bit is how valuable it would be to find something that I've done wrong, or to find something that is problematic about me," Swift said. "I do have moments where I get really scared, like, 'Who's trying to take pictures inside my hotel room window?' You live your life with the blinds drawn in every room you go into. And that's the part that kind of gets to me sometimes, is that every day — like right now, there's someone in TMZ trying to dig through my trash and figure out what I did wrong."

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are the cutest snow bunnies EVER. The couple is preparing to celebrate their first Christmas together, and they got in the spirit by building a snowman with her brother. Whoa, things are definitely getting serious between Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift — it even looks like they’re going to spend Christmas together! Just two days before the big holiday, the pair proudly posed for a photo on her Instagram after successfully building a massive snowman. But where in the world are they!? Wherever they are, there’s a WHOLE lot of snow, and the cute couple bundled up in snow gear to brave the cold. The 26-year-old shared two shots on Instagram, the first of which shows her and her man packing the snow together to build the base of their creation. Once the finished product was complete — can you believe it’s as tall as Calvin?! — the stars proudly stood next it, with Tay’s younger brother, Austin, lying across the front.
