A mug showing Maddie McCann as a skeleton has been pulled from sale on eBay. The cartoon mocked the toddler who went missing from Prai de Luz in 2007, showing a drawing of ‘Madeleine aged three’ and ‘Madeleine aged 6’. Sold as an ‘offensive joke mug’, it says: ‘If you see Madeleine, please don’t hesitate. ‘BURY HER!’ It was on sale for £6.49 from the seller rn_commando, the Sun reports.

The two were working as domestic helpers near the Algarve apartment in Portugal where Madeleine disappeared in 2007. They were reported to police by locals soon after the three-year-old's disappearance, but these reports were not followed up until Scotland Yard officers recently re-examined statements. Witnesses say they saw the woman near the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz, where the McCann family was staying. Neither she nor her husband was seen again after Madeleine went missing. Police were unable to locate "the woman in purple" despite extensive searches, but a recent breakthrough has taken authorities to Bulgaria, Eastern Europe.

A mystery woman police are searching for in connection with Leicestershire girl Madeleine McCann's disappearance has been identified, a criminologist claims. Detectives at Scotland Yard have been looking to speak to a woman who was dressed in purple and seen standing outside the apartment in Portugal where the family were staying. Now, criminologist Heriberto Janosch Gonzalez has claimed that he knows who she is. He claims that the woman is Bulgarian waitress Luisa Todorov and it was reported earlier this month that officers from Operation Grange had travelled to Bulgaria in a bid to track down the woman. The 58-year-old was working with her husband at the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz when Madeleine vanished in 2007. Luisa and her husband Stefan, 50, gave statements to police five days after the three-year-old’s disappearance. They both denied having any knowledge of the case and have not been spoken to again for over a decade.

If you’ve ever experienced an identity crisis, you’ll be able to relate to a young woman who thinks there’s a chance she is Madeleine McCann. Harriet Brookes is so adamant that she could be the missing girl that she messaged her friends detailing the theory. Screenshots from the group chat were posted on Twitter by her friend Elizabeth, who wrote: ‘Close the door am out.’ Harriet opened the can of worms by telling her mates: ‘Right guys. I don’t usually believe in conspiracy theories but honestly I think I’m Madeleine McCann.’ It may seem ludicrous, but we have to admit that some of the evidence is fairly compelling.
