It will be an emotional journey with some of Disney’s most loveable characters when “Disney on Ice Presents ‘Frozen’” comes to the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. This is the first time the animated cast of the Academy Award-winning tale will be brought to life. At the heart of the story is the reunion of two departed sisters, Queen Elsa and Princess Anna. Bringing color to the tale are mystical powers, reindeer, trolls, the mountain man Kristoff and the comical snowman Olaf. Appearing in the starring role of Elsa is Juliana Dimura. At age 26, the New York native is in only her second year with Disney, but she has 20 years of skating experience.

David Faria’s story is living proof that dreams do come true. Born in Brazil, he moved with his family to San Francisco when he was 8. He didn’t start skating until four years later, and even then, financial hardship and parents that worked hard to make ends meet meant that he didn’t have the support that other skaters did. However, he persisted, and when he turned 18, he auditioned for Disney on Ice, which returns to East Tennessee this weekend. He landed the job, and he hasn’t looked back, he told The Daily Times recently. “The first time I skated, I was with my mom; I had tried other sports, and being Brazilian, everyone of course tried to push soccer,” he said. “I loved it, and I love to watch it and play for fun, but it wasn’t for me. I used to roller blade a lot, which is very different, but at the same time, you had that same feeling, so when I tried skating for the first time, it was really fun. My mom offered to sign me up for classes, and after the first class, I fell in love with it.” Needless to say, skating came naturally; there are others who start much earlier who have yet to achieve Faria’s level of success. He was never interested in Olympic gold, however; he was drawn to Disney, he said, because of the emotions his skating brings out — in the youngest members of the audience, and in himself.
