Taylor Swift has her first U.K. No. 1 single with “Look What You Made Me Do” (EMI/Universal), eight years after her chart debut there. Meanwhile, Queens of the Stone Age have their first chart-topping album in the territory as Villains (Matador) goes straight to the summit. Swift's single had downloads of 30,000 and 5.3 million streams in its first week, according to new Official Charts Company data. She has reached No. 2 on the U.K. singles countdown three times, with “Love Story,” “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “Shake It Off.” Her new single ends the two-week reign of Dua Lipa's “New Rules” (Warner Bros./Warner Music), which slips to No. 2.

Just in case you are living under a rock, the queen of music herself, Taylor Swift, has returned and is better than ever … in some opinions. Recently, Swift released a new single and accompanying video (her first in three years), “Look What You Made Me Do.” She also debuted the title for her new album, “Reputation,” which is set to release Nov. 10, 2017. Swift is on top of the whole music industry right now being that her controversial new music video has broken a major record — beating out Adele’s “Hello” music video with over 30 million views on Vevo in the first 24 hours since the video was posted, according to Fortune magazine. Both Swift’s new song and music video have made major headlines since they released, some positive — others not so much.

In a little more than a week since its release, Taylor Swift's new single, "Look What You Made Me Do," has ridden a wave of attention into record-breaking metrics. Driven by an expertly cryptic promotional campaign, the first single from Swift's forthcoming album Reputation set first-day records on YouTube and Spotify and drew the biggest weekly streaming and sales numbers for a single yet this year, according to Billboard. Now, "Look" is the new No. 1 song in the country. It broke Adele's record (of 61.6 million plays) for most-streamed debut week by a female artist, with 84.4 million U.S. streams. And, in what must be a bitter disappointment for Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, Swift displaced "Despacito" atop the Hot 100, where it has sat for four months. If "Despacito" had lasted one more week at No. 1, it would have set an all-time record for most weeks at the top of the chart. As mentioned, "Look" also set records the first day it was released, breaking Spotify's high-water mark for first-day streams — set by her friend Ed Sheeran earlier this year — with 10,129,087 plays in a single day. It was also the most streams generated by any song in one day since Spotify launched.

Taylor Swift's latest single “Look What You Made Me Do” is a non-mover on the British songs tally, holding onto the top position for a second week in a row after debuting in that coveted slot last frame, but that’s not the only Swift-related news coming out of the U.K. this week... Former leader “New Rules,” the most successful cut released thus far from up-and-coming pop singer Dua Lipa, is also steady, as is Pink’s new pop offering “What About Us.” The two singles are steady at Nos. 2 and 3 this time around, with both being held back by Swift’s unstoppable No. 1.
