Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcomed baby Archie Harrison in May this year. Despite facing criticism for their fiercely-guarded privacy, the couple has held firm in their right to shield Archie from public scrutiny. But now, it has emerged Meghan has chosen to shield him from family, too, a decision said to have been "heartbreaking" for the Duchess. The Duchess of Sussex, 38, has had a difficult relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, 75 since he abandoned her on her wedding day. Caught up in a fake paparazzi photo scandal, Thomas cited health issues as the reason for pulling out of walking his daughter down the aisle at the last minute. Since then, Meghan has remained largely tight-lipped over the matter, while Thomas sought to communicate his hurt at the falling out through the press, giving several high-profile interviews, angering the palace and further alienating his daughter.

Meghan Markle is making her official return to royal duties after maternity leave!
The Duchess of Sussex will step out next Thursday, Sept. 12, to launch the capsule collection of women’s workwear she created with her designer friend Misha Nonoo.
The outing marks her first official work engagement since she and Prince Harry welcomed their first child, a son they named Archie Harrison, on May 6, making her return to royal duties just over four months after Archie’s birth.
The clothing line will benefit her patronage Smart Works, a charity that helps women find employment with coaching tips and professional attire for their job interviews. For every item bought during the sale of the collection, one will be donated to Smart Works.
“When you walk into a Smart Works space you’re met with racks of clothing and an array of bags and shoes,” Meghan wrote in the September issue of British Vogue, which she guest edited. “Sometimes, however, it can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colors, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.”

Meghan Markle beat her jet lag by taking a yoga class shortly after arriving in New York City on Friday, PEOPLE exclusively confirms.
The Duchess of Sussex and a friend headed to Modo Yoga, which offers hot yoga classes in an eco-conscious studio, in the West Village neighborhood of N.Y.C. The royal is in New York to see close friend Serena Williams play in the final of the US Open on Saturday.
Meghan, 38, joined a surprisingly full yoga class of up to 60 people on Friday.
“There were lots of sweet, knowing smiles” among some of the respectful patrons, a source tells PEOPLE.
And it comes as no surprise that one of her first stops in N.Y.C. was to a yoga class. Meghan has been a long-time advocate of yoga, with her mom Doria Ragland — who is an instructor in L.A. — playing a major role in her love for the practice.
“She has been going to Modo Yoga for many years and tries to do so whenever she is in New York,” the source adds. “It was the perfect remedy for jet lag.”

My children would be the first to tell you that I am not the most sentimental of mothers. But even I would have thought twice about leaving my firstborn at home at the tender age of just four months in order to fly 3,500 miles to watch Serena Williams play in the U.S. Open final. Quite apart from the fact it would have been highly impractical (I was still breastfeeding), it would have been a huge emotional wrench. Like many new mothers, I was completely obsessed with my baby. All I wanted to do, really, was spend hours on end gazing in awe at this tiny human — and wondering how on earth I was going to keep it alive.

Meghan Markle spent a low-key weekend in New York City — taking in a yoga class and surprising a friend for his birthday — but all eyes were on the Duchess of Sussex at the US Open.
The royal mom, 38, cheered on close pal Serena Williams at the women’s final of the tennis tournament on Saturday from the star athlete’s box at Arthur Ashe Stadium, sitting in front of Anna Wintour and behind Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian as Serena lost to Canadian Bianca Andreescu.
At one point, Meghan appeared on the stadium’s Jumbotron with her title “HRH The Duchess of Sussex,” as captured on a Twitter video shared by royal fan Michaela. The royal looked up to see herself on the big screen, then gave a shy smile and a wave for the camera.
“The crowd went wild when they showed her on the screen,” a spectator tells PEOPLE. “They did it as soon as they possibly could — it was the very first break in action.”
“She was very into the match and jumped to her feet quite a few times,” the insider adds. “She stayed through the whole presentation, even after Venus left, which people were really impressed by.”
