Russian President Vladimir Putin’s approval rating has reached a historic low since the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as reported by the Russian polling agency VTsIOM (All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center) on 23 August 2024. The decline comes amid intensified Ukrainian military activity in Russia’s Kursk region. However, it is important to note that these figures have not been independently verified.
According to WCIOM, the approval rating of Putin’s presidency dropped by 3.5 percentage points during the week of 12-18 August 2024, settling at 73.6%. This represents a significant decrease from the previous week (5-11 August), when the approval rating stood at 77.1%. Survey participants were asked a straightforward question: “Do you generally approve or disapprove of the president’s activities?”
