England officially has a new royal, even if he can't walk, talk, or eat solid foods yet. On Monday, April 23, Kensington Palace announced that Kate Middleton had given birth to a baby boy, who is the third child to Middleton and her husband Prince William. On Friday, April 27, the Palace announced his name is Louis Arthur Charles. Given how complicated the British royal line of succession is, you might be wondering: Will Louis Arthur ever become the king of England? Even though he was just born, Louis has a pretty high place in the royal line of succession. Let's go over where he falls and what his title will be.

These are the first official pictures of the new fifth in line to the throne, born on March 23 in London and revealed to the public hours later in a photo call, but not seen since. The Duchess, who has also not been seen since she gave birth, photographed her newborn son when he was just three days old at the family home at Kensington Palace. Kate, a keen photographer, managed to capture her new born son while he was awake. Looking into the distance the blue-eyed baby looks alert and content as he rests against a cushion on a pink upholstered arm chair.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 8-week-old son will be christened on Monday, July 9, Kensington Palace confirmed on Wednesday. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce that the christening of Prince Louis will take place on Monday 9th July at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, London,” the palace said in a statement. Charlotte, 3, was christened at Sandringham’s St. Mary Magdalene church in Norfolk — in the same church where her late grandmother Princess Diana was christened — while the ceremony for George, 4, was held at St. James’s Palace‘s Chapel Royal. The Chapel Royal, where Louis’ service will also be, was where the Duchess of Sussex had her own baptism earlier this year.
