Russian figure skater Anna Shcherbakova, who for the first time in the history of women's single skating performed two quadruple lutz in one program, said that it was important for her to show this jump as part of a competitive start. Fourteen-year-old Shcherbakova, who was training in the group of Eteri Tutberidze, on Saturday made two Lutz cleaners in four turns in the free program at the second stage of the Russian Cup in Yoshkar-Ola, having won the tournament with a total of 227.27 points. "By doing a free program, I am generally pleased, as it was important for me to show quad lutz at competitions. But there were many shortcomings that we would work on. I am not very happy with the short program, there should be no such mistakes. But, in general, emotions from the start were positive. It was an important experience for me. We will continue to work and prepare for the next competition, "said Shcherbakova, whose words are quoted on the official website of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (Figure Skating Federation of the Russian Federation).

Russian skaters dominated a brilliant three days of skating at the ISU Junior Grand Prix at Minoru Arenas by winning eight of the 12 medals on the line. Anna Shcherbakova claimed her second gold medal on the circuit in the junior ladies competition. The 14-year-old took the lead in the short program on Thursday even though she fell on her triple Lutz-triple loop combination. The Muscovite risked a quad Lutz in her free skate Friday to “Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso”, but she under rotated and fell. Unfazed, she went on to complete the remaining seven jumps, including two triple-triple combinations and level-four spins to win with 195.56 points. “I tried to approach the second (Junior Grand Prix) event the same way like the first one. But I made a serious mistake in the short program as I fell on the jump combination,” Shcherbakova said. “After the first Grand Prix we’ve worked a lot on the quad Lutz and it became much more consistent so that we included it into the program. I don’t have time to relax now, because there is still a lot of work left to do,” she added.

Today a unique story has happened - seven hundredths shared Anya Scherbakova and Sasha Trusova. But someone had to win, although it seems to me that none of them lost. Trusova risked it - and she did the second quadruple jump, but received a “deduction”, that is, minus point. If she had not done this, she would have won today. In any case, the risk to me at their age is a noble cause, so these wonderful and amazing girls with fours are wonderful. Bonfire is fantastic, although it does not jump the quadruple and triple Axel. Nobody is forcing her development, while her jump is absolutely unique, so she gets such high points. She is not very far away from those who jump the quad, not much loses. Its height makes it possible, according to the new rules, to send at least to “+5”. I am sure that all her jumps were otplusovany very well, so she is in such a place. Very pleased with Stanislava Konstantinova and Sofia Samodurova - wonderful two girls, were absolutely wonderful.
