Mariah Carey, 49, jetted off to Aspen with 7 ½-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan Cannon to celebrate the holidays, and the “All I Want for Christmas” singer shared the family’s adorable ski getaway with fans on social media.
Carey posted a series of sweet photos of her and the kids hitting the Buttermilk ski slopes on Dec. 22, even though the singer admitted she was feeling under the weather at the time.
Mariah Carey's very necessary and iconic holiday bop, "All I Want For Christmas Is You," is still breaking records even two decades after its release.
According to Chart Data, Carey's wintertime hit broke the Spotify record for the most streams in a single day, reaching 10.8 million streams as of Christmas Eve. The record was previously held by XXXTentacion for his single, “Sad!" The song reached 10.4 streams on June 19 — one day after he was shot and killed.
Assuming the popular song is paid at the highest price of .0084 cents per stream for 11 million listens, the rights holder or holders will earn $92,400 before splitting the earnings. It’s not a terrible take for a single day, but it’s also not a lot of money given just how much people seem to love Carey’s Christmas jingle and its enduring appeal. Between them, the parties could all split a luxury car to share rides. Individually, they could maybe each buy a Toyota.
Christmas has come and gone, but the holiday celebrations are likely far from over for Mariah Carey. Once again, the not-so-elusive chanteuse has staked her claim as the Queen of Christmas with her seminal hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Every year the classic enjoys a resurgence on the charts, and 2018 has been no exception. Over the last month, it has reached three new peaks on the Billboard Hot 100.
It started by climbing up to number 7 before rising to number 6. That’s not a bad showing for a song originally released in 1994. But it was just a warm-up. Today (December 31), Billboard revealed that the song finally broke into the Top 3. The news comes after Mimi’s anthem destroyed Spotify’s one-day streaming record on Christmas Eve with more than 10.8 million global streams.
This combined with strong charting on iTunes and radio play was enough to push her to the number 3 spot. Per Billboard, it marks the first time a holiday song has cracked the Top 5 in 60 years. The last was “The Chipmunk Song” by David Seville & The Chipmunks, which topped the chart for four weeks in 1958. It also signifies the Caution icon’s first Top 3 hit since “Touch My Body” topped the chart in 2008. That’s not all though. Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” remains at the top spot on the chart, with Halsey’s “Without Me” standing strong at number 2. This is the first time women have occupied all three spots in the Top 3 since November of 2014. Talk about a good week for girl power and a tribute to “AIWFCIY”‘s enduring influence.
Mariah Carey stopped her New Year’s Eve performance for a beauty pit stop.
The diva, who famously botched her 2016 Times Square ball-drop performance, took the stage at Nikki Beach in St. Barts — but pulled her hair and makeup team onstage for a touch-up midshow.
The “Touch My Body” singer had her face blotted by several people, telling them, “Keep me together, keep me together.” She said of the Caribbean environment, “It’s sweaty and warm and tropical and all those things.” A spy tells us, “She said something like, ‘If you’re going to post on Instagram, let me look good.’ ”
Mariah Carey is being blackmailed by her former personal assistant.
Just days after settling a lawsuit with her former manager for sexual harassment, it looks like Mariah Carey will be spending some more time in court. The pop diva is one of the most famous musicians in the world but in the last couple of days, she's been fighting off claims made against her by Stella Bulochnikov. Mimi was said to have strutted around her naked, sometimes doing "sexual things" in her former manager's presence. After a settlement was reached, Carey is going after another one of her past employees. This time, she's suing her ex-assistant after a huge betrayal on her part.
According to Daily Mail, Lianna Azarian secretly recorded Mariah Carey doing "intimate" things that would be "embarrassing" if they somehow made their way onto the internet. The lawsuit does not give further context on what the content actually includes, except that it would be incredibly damaging. It's written in the suit that Mariah's former assistant showed the videos to some her of her friends and said that she would leak them if she were fired.
