The two-hour, action-packed grand finale of NBC’s America’s Got Talent: The Champions crammed in a season full of memories and amazing acts on Monday night (Feb. 18) -- including such fan-favorites as Jackie Evancho, Tokio Myers and The Clairvoyants -- before unveiling the first-ever winner of the latest iteration of the Simon Cowell-produced competition show. When the confetti finally rained down at night's end it was last season's winner, magician Shin Lin, who held the giant trophy aloft, but not before he faced another former AGT champ, Evancho, in the top two after a glittering night of reminiscing about the origins of the show and very special performances with some surpise guest stars. Runner-up Evancho gave a breathtaking rendition of West Side Story’s “Somewhere,” while wearing a princess-esque blue gown that resembled the blue-hued stage as she skillfully hit every note of her pop-opera performance. Londoner Myers then took center stage with his awe-inspiring one-man-show by playing his all-white instruments including a grand piano and drums, accompanied by Voices of Hope Children’s Choir who lent their vocals to the captivating “All We Got” during the epic performance.

Shin Lim, who won season 13 of America’s Got Talent last September, and then took the Champions title, winning the whole kit and caboodle on Feb. 18 when host Terry Crews presented him with the trophy. But the interesting thing is he almost didn’t compete on America’s Got Talent: The Champions because it began filming just two weeks after his initial win. “At first I had second thoughts because I was so tired, so I changed my mind pretty last minute,” Shin tells Parade.com in this exclusive interview. “Being able to perform alongside such iconic people … when do you ever get a chance to do that? Because I saw Susan Boyle and Paul Potts way back when I was young, and I’m like, ‘I want to meet them, and I want to perform with them.’ So, that’s why I decided to do it.” Shin also got a little encouragement from fiancée Casey Thomas, who was responsible for him entering the talent competition initially. Now, with the second win, the engaged couple will have a little more money — the Champions prize is $25,000 — to spend on their wedding, which will take place this August at the Hyatt Hotel in Hawaii. “We’re trying to figure it all out,” Shin says. “It’s so stressful at the moment, but we’re trying to sort out the wedding details as we go on, but it is just so last minute and very, very, very, very behind schedule, but we’re trying our best.”
