The Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has been a smash success around the globe, raking in more than $700 million since its release in November of last year. The success was further validated by two Golden Globe nominations, one for Best Motion Picture - Drama and one for actor Rami Malek as Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama. At the annual awards show last night (Jan. 6), both Malek and the film ended up winners. http://instagram.com/p/BsVM8eNhpDZ “I am beyond moved," said actor Rami Malek who portrayed frontman Freddie Mercury in the movie. "My heart is pounding out of my chest right now," he continued, going on to say, "This is a profound honor to receive this, and to be counted among such extraordinary actors. I have to thank everyone who worked so tirelessly to make this film what it is. And of course, to Queen. To you, Brian May, to you, Roger Taylor, for ensuring that authenticity and inclusiveness exists in the music and in the world and in all of us. Thank you to Freddie Mercury for giving me this job of a lifetime. I love you, you beautiful man!” http://instagram.com/p/BsVQ4YFB73B Queen guitarist Brian May was equally excited, chronicling the night on his Instagram profile, sharing some photos from the night and words of excitement regarding the pair of Golden Globe awards. "Thanks King Rami - you are IT!!! I’m still in shock at walking away with the two top awards of the night. THANK YOU Golden Globes," he said in one post, pictured with the award and Malek.

The 1975 hit is the third bestselling single in UK history. The performance came less than 24 hours after Bohemian Rhapsody won two Golden Globe Awards, prompting some to speculate it was a tribute to the film. The box office hit, starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, was awarded the gongs for Best Actor - Drama, and Best Motion Picture - Drama at the glitzy Hollywood ceremony on Sunday evening. The film charts the life of Queen lead singer, Freddie Mercury, from his teenage years to the band's renowned performance at Live Aid in 1985.

The film won Best Motion Picture - Drama at the Golden Globes in January, in what was seen as something of a curveball. But while Rami Malek is the runaway favourite for Best Actor at the Oscars, the Queen biopic has not been considered to be the likely winner for Best Picture. Could a massive upset be on the cards? It's in joint-third place of the eight nominees, when ranked by odds with the bookmaker. Roma remains the favourite at 4/7, with Green Book at 11/4 and The Favourite tying with Bohemian Rhapsody on 16/1. Further down, BlackKklansman is on 20/1 along with Black Panther, and A Star Is Born is at 33/1.

With another Oscars in the Hollywood history books, it was time for the stars to celebrate. And that they did all over Los Angeles on Sunday night. After the annual ceremony wrapped inside the Dolby Theater with Green Book taking home Best Picture, this year's winners grabbed their golden statues and headed out to party. One of the first stops as always was the Governors Ball, where the 2019 victors could get their new awards engraved. First-time winner Rami Malek really got the party started when he grabbed a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck Rare champagne, shook it up and popped off the cork. According to an insider, everybody cheered as he sprayed the bubbly. "He was clearly in a celebratory mood popping bottles!" the source said. The night was just as fun for all the famous families taking in the special night, including the Bohemian Rhapsody winner's. Malek's mom and siblings could be spotted mingling with friends and having a great time at the Governors Ball and were later snapped all together inside Fox's after-party.
