A new West End play about Princess Diana will claim - yet again - Prince Charles is not Prince Harry's real father. 'Truth, Lies, Diana' will reignite persistent rumours that former Household Cavalry officer, James Hewitt, fathered the fourth in line to the throne during his affair with Diana in the 80s. The show's writer, Jon Conway, claims Hewitt himself made the admission and has backed the play by allowing it to form part of the script. Conway said: "There is a startling revelation that James Hewitt makes and he has allowed me to make it in the play. "This is the fact that his relationship with Diana started 18 months before Prince Harry was born." Rumours of Harry's true parentage have been rife ever since details of Diana and Hewitt's affair became public in the mid-90s. The author of the play, which makes its debut at London’s Charing Cross Theatre on January 9, says it is based on extensive interviews with figures who knew Diana ‘in their own words’, including Hewitt and Paul Burrell, her former butler. In one sensational scene Hewitt tells a journalist: ‘Diana and I started our relationship more than a year before Harry was born. Now that doesn’t prove that I am his father. It’s just the... inconvenient truth.’ Hewitt, 56, last night confirmed that he knows author Jon Conway and spoke to him about his relationship with Diana, and said he had no doubt the play would be ‘accurate’. The play, about a journalist trying to find out the truth about Diana’s death in 1997, does not feature a depiction of the Princess herself, but it does include claims about her life, including the unfounded suggestion she was pregnant with Dodi Fayed’s baby when she died. But it is the references to Prince Harry’s paternity which are likely to be the most shocking. In the play, the character of Hewitt insists that he has always denied being Prince Harry’s father, but the play still includes several references to the issue. When the journalist, who is played by Conway, asks Hewitt if he knows who Prince Harry’s father is, he pauses before answering: ‘Of course I do.’

ARISTOCRAT turned actress Gabriella Wilde, a family friend of Prince Harry, is in the running for the role of a lifetime starring opposite Johnny Depp in the latest Pirates Of The Caribbean film. She is one of four young British actresses who have been shortlisted by Disney to play feisty Elizabeth Swann, the role that catapulted Keira Knightley to international stardom. The first four swashbuckling Pirate adventures took more than £3billion at the box office for the Hollywood studio. Gabriella, 25, is thought to be favourite as she is the most experienced actress. She appeared in period drama The Three Musketeers and most recently a remake of 1980s film Endless Love. Wilde’s family is related to Cressida Bonas, on-off girlfriend of Prince Harry. Her full name is Gabriella Zanna Vanessa Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe. Her father John Austen, is the grandson of a baronet while her former model mother Vanessa is the ex-wife of socialite Sir Dai Llewellyn. His younger brother Roddy was involved in a long-term relationship with Princess Margaret. Married Wilde, who had her first child Sasha earlier this year, dropped her family name to pursue a career in Hollywood. Her competition for the role as female lead in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales includes 24-year-old Games Of Throne star Alexandra Dowling. British rival number two is Lucy Boynton, at 20 youngest of the four. She is best known for playing a young Beatrix Potter in 2006’s Miss Potter. Disney chiefs have said they will choose the young actress who has the best on-screen chemistry with 25-year old Australian Brenton Thwaites, who has been cast as a British soldier. Filming of the fifth in the series, due out in 2017, begins in the new year in Queensland, Australia. Former James Bond baddie Javier Bardem will be the villain taking on Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow.

Prince Harry enjoyed a night of darts on Monday evening. The British royal and sports fan stepped out for an evening of fun at the William Hill PDC World Darts Championships at the Alexandra Palace in north London. The royal, who is often seen at rugby and polo matches and recently hosted a Christmas Eve football match for staff at Sandringham, dressed casually in a white T-shirt, grey cardigan and trousers for the sporty event. He was seen laughing with his friends as he watched Stephen Bunting beat James Wade 4-1. Harry wasn’t the only famous face at the event – TV presenter Clare Balding and football referee Howard Webb were also among the crowd. The popular royal's appearance went down well with one of the evening's champions, Stephen, otherwise known as "The Bullet", who later joked: "I didn't know Harry was here. I'm going to have a pint with him now! But it is great that darts is getting this type of coverage." Harry recently used his position and love of sport to encourage more schools across the United Kingdom to play rugby. The young prince and trained rugby coach took part in a training session involving youngsters who play the sport in Salford, Manchester. Wearing an England rugby shirt, the 30-year-old was enthusiastic as he joined in with the practise session at Eccles RFC. During his visit Harry also helped student volunteers run a rugby festival for younger children, and he met with local teachers who are being trained as rugby coaches.

She may never become a princess after splitting with Prince Harry, but Cressida Bonas has a none-too-shabby back-up plan: Hollywood stardom. That's according to a man who knows Hollywood better than any - mega film producer Harvey Weinstein. The movie mogul called Cressida a 'fantastic' actress and said he believes she has a long Hollywood career ahead of her, in a report in the Evening Standard newspaper. The 25-year-old beauty is making her debut film appearance in a Weinstein production, Tulip Fever, which also stars Cara Delevingne, Daisy Lowe and Dame Judi Dench and is due out later in the year. 'Cressida is great in Tulip Fever and people will see what a fantastic actress she is... it will be the first of many roles for her,' said Weinstein, according to the paper. He also praised her for not using her famous name to propel her acting career. 'She is not taking advantage if any media profile,' he said, speaking at the screening of one of his new films, Big Eyes, in London last night, which Cressida also attended. Society girl Cressida has been cast as merchant's wife Mrs Steen for her debut role in Tulip Fever. The film is an adaptation of the the novel by Deborah Moggach about a 17th century romance in which an artist falls for a married young woman while he's commissioned to paint her portrait. A thumbs-up for her from the big man on Hollywood is a great start to her career. Weinstein who won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, has produced huge hits including Pulp Fiction and Gangs Of New York, as well as critically acclaimed films like The King's Speech and My Week With Marilyn. Appearing in a Harvey Weinstein film, certainly did no harm for Gwyneth Paltrow, who the producer is said to have championed. Gwynnie went on to win an Oscar for her role and has been cast in eight of Harvey's other movie successes. In fact in Hollywood, Harvey Weinstein ranks somewhere close to God. A 2013 study of Oscars speeches over the last 60 years revealed that the producer has been thanked a total of 12 times - more than the Almighty himself. Will Cressida be clutching a little golden man and thanking Harvey Weinstein in the future? Watch this space.

Prince Harry paid his respects to the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday. The 30-year-old joined French ambassador Sylvie Bermann at the French Embassy in London as he signed a book of condolences for those killed in the attack. In his message Prince Harry expressed his "warmest best wishes" to those affected by the attack in France where gunmen killed 12 people, most of them journalists, at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Speaking after his visit, Sylvie Bermann said: "We greatly appreciate the support of the royal family and the presence of Prince Harry today". The Prince is one of the latest high profile people to express their condolences, as Barack Obama also signed a message at the White House to say that he will "stand united" with France to ensure that justice is done. As the manhunt for the gunmen continued, a number of celebrities took to Twitter to speak out in support of the victims, and also write about the importance of freedom of speech. While One Direction star Harry Styles tweeted that he was "thinking of everyone" caught up in the attack, his former flame Cara Delevigne wrote: "Everyone should have freedom to express themselves and not fear for their lives". David Walliams tweeted a picture of Salman Rushdie and an excerpt from the author's speech in defence of Charlie Hebdo, and posted another message saying that the actions of the terrorists "can never be the will of any god".
