In her first singles match of the week, Sloane Stephens kept Team Kindness in touching distance with a late-night victory, but Team Peace won three out of Friday's five clashes to hold the overnight lead at the Credit One Bank Invitational.
Danielle Collins triumphed in Friday's first evening match at the non-WTA exhibition event, defeating former World No.1 Victoria Azarenka, 6-1, 7-5, to put her squad Team Peace up by six points on a day where each win earned the victor's team two points.
Stephens finished off the night with a hard-fought win over Eugenie Bouchard, 6-3, 7-6(7), earning Team Kindness a much-needed two points just before midnight.
Team Peace, though, goes into Saturday's encounters with a healthy 14-10 lead in the team event on the green clay courts of Daniel Island, home of the Volvo Car Open.
Nevertheless, the event is far from over, as each of the weekend matches will be worth a whopping three points for the victorious team.
A series of breaks in the second set ended with Bouchard up 5-2, and the 2014 Wimbledon finalist was able to serve for the set at 5-3. In that 12-minute game, Bouchard staved off two break points before earning her first set point with a forehand winner down the line. However, Bouchard saw that chance and a second one disappear, and Stephens was able to grasp three more break points.
The American was unable to convert any of those, and after Bouchard finished off a grueling rally with a stunning crosscourt forehand winner, she claimed a third set point. That, too, was squandered after a netted unforced error, and Stephens at last converted her sixth break point of the game, pulling back on serve at 5-4.

http://instagram.com/p/CB6Thq-jBb9 Eugenie Bouchard just played the Credit One Invitational. This was an exhibition event that was held behind closed doors in Charleston. In the event, Genie played for Team Peace which went on to win the event. To celebrate this win, she was asked to open a bottle of champagne but apparently, she is not very good at doing that. Check it out. Eugenie Bouchard Opening A Champagne Bottle As you can see in the above video, Eugenie Bouchard struggled to open a champagne bottle. And when she did open it, she ended up running away as the champagne spilled. She is clearly not very good at opening such bottles and even she admits it. http://instagram.com/p/CCBzKS_JIKt As you can see in the above post, she assured fans that her team played way better than they celebrated. She also asked all of her fans if they could teach her to open a champagne bottle and she will probably have many volunteers.

Everyone’s thought about going on a date with a celebrity, but few of us are bold enough to shoot our shot. Even fewer get a response. But even if you do land yourself a date with The Rich & Famous, as tennis sensation Eugenie Bouchard just revealed, it’s easy to screw things up. http://instagram.com/p/CCV6OwWpFw6 Enter: Bob Menery, sports commentator and social media star, who managed to land a date with the Canadian tennis player and social media star Bouchard, but completely screwed the pooch by posting about it too much on social media. Menery, whose vulgarity-laced comedic commentaries of golf and other sporting events has catapulted him to over 2.7m Instagram followers, asked Bouchard out during an Instagram Live chat she was having with popular American sports journalist Allie LaForce. http://instagram.com/p/CCRH7RUJxJP Bouchard agreed to a date after Menery pledged a $4,000 donation to charity, at LaForce’s suggestion. Their first (virtual) date was live-streamed for Menery’s podcast Zapped, and then the two met in person in Las Vegas. Things were looking good for Menery, but his incessant self-aggrandizing about his romance with Bouchard backfired spectacularly. On a recent episode of Menery’s podcast, the former world #5 took great pleasure out of telling Menery his constant updates alerted a competitor to her availability, news.com.au reports.

A date with tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has apparently backfired after podcaster Bob Menery’s social media hype over their meeting prompted her to find another date. Menery, who runs the ‘Zapped’ podcast, gatecrashed her Instagram Live video in April and Bouchard agreed to go on a date with him if he donated $US4,000 to charity. http://instagram.com/p/CCV6OwWpFw6 Bouchard enforced a six-feet social-distancing policy during the date, a follow up meeting after the pair met via conference call during lockdown, but things took a turn when Menery was quizzed about his love life. When asked about how many women he had been with since their first meeting he responded: “Between one and something.” “Definitely single digits. Who do you think I am, Hugh Hefner? No.” http://instagram.com/p/CCmMFi-pgPL

Canadian star Eugenie Bouchard has taken part in the event and she won her first match. Check out what she said after her win.
At the Prague Open, Eugenie Bouchard convincingly defeated Veronika Kudermetova. Despite being the World No. 330, the Canadian managed to beat the 40th ranked player in her first match in a long time. After her win, she talked about how she feels about returning to tennis. She said,
“I’m so grateful to have a job and have this opportunity. You appreciate things more when they’re taken from you. I didn’t know what to expect in terms of my level, I played better than I expected. I just wanted to be there mentally no matter what.”
Genie is clearly happy about returning to tennis and that is why she has decided not to play just the WTA Events. Recently, she made it clear that she wanted to play ITF events to improve her ranking and get as many matches as possible. In addition to that, she also said that it would help gain some confidence.
While it is great that Bouchard wants to play ITF events, one of the biggest questions fans will be asking is – is she going to play the 2020 US Open? This is an event that has suffered many withdrawals over the past few weeks. Many players like Ashleigh Barty and Elina Svitolina pulled out of the event due to the pandemic. In addition to that, many other players are not sure about the event because of the strict restrictions. Bouchard has not officially confirmed her participation at the tournament but hopefully, she will do it very soon. And more importantly, every single tennis fan will be hoping that she does very well at the event.
