'7 Rings' reigns for a fourth week, 'Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored' debuts at No. 2 and 'Thank U, Next' rebounds to No. 3. Ariana Grande becomes the first artist to hold the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart simultaneously since The Beatles in 1964, as her new album Thank U, Next launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums tally. Grande's "7 Rings" rules the Hot 100 (dated Feb. 23) for a fourth week, while "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" debuts at No. 2 and former seven-week leader "Thank U, Next" rebounds from No. 7 to No. 3. All three songs are from the Thank U, Next album, released on Republic Records. Grande is just the second act in the Hot 100's 60-year history to monopolize the top three in a week. The Beatles earned the honor for five weeks in March and April 1964, even claiming the entire top five on the April 4, 1964-dated chart. "7 Rings" No. 1 again: Grande's "7 Rings" spends a fourth week atop the Hot 100, encompassing its entire run on the chart. "Rings" leads the Streaming Songs chart for a fourth frame, with 63.5 million U.S. streams, up 10 percent, in the week ending Feb. 14, according to Nielsen Music. On Radio Songs, "Rings" rises 10-9, up 23 percent to 61.7 million audience impressions in the week ending Feb. 17, good for the Hot 100's top Airplay Gainer award for a third week.

Ariana Grande has officially ended the Beatles. Ok, calm down, I'm kidding, but Billboard did announce on Tuesday that the pop singer is the first artist to claim the top three spots on the Hot 100 since the Fab Four did it in 1964. Grande's current No. 1 single, "7 Rings," is spending its fourth week atop the chart. Her third single from the Thank U, Next album, "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored," sits at No. 2, and the title track, "Thank U, Next," sits at No. 3. It's been almost 55 years since the Beatles singles "Can't Buy Me Love," "Twist and Shout," and "Do You Want to Know a Secret" dominated the top three slots on the Hot 100 chart in April 1964. No other artist or group has achieved that feat — until now.

Last week, Ariana Grande made headlines after getting an unfortunately misspelled tattoo — instead of saying “seven rings” in Japanese, as was intended, the kanji symbols read as “Japanese barbecue grill.” But amid the mocking media coverage, one person in particular came to Ariana’s defense: Ayumi Furiya, her Japanese tutor of four years. As soon as Furiya heard about the outrage, she reached out to the pop star. “We texted a lot,” Furiya told the Cut, and some of those messages ended up on Ari’s Instagram story. In the end, Ariana couldn’t add in the missing kanji symbol in the spot her tutor suggested— in between the two others, which lacked adequate space — and ended up with a tattoo that reads as “Japanese barbecue grill finger.” For what it’s worth, Furiya says she likes the tattoo. Below, the Cut spoke to Furiya about her experience teaching Japanese, the first time she met Ariana, and what she wants to say to everyone criticizing the pop star’s hand tattoo. How did you come to be Ariana’s teacher? Did she approach you? I started the Fuji School in 2012, and it’s the only Japanese language school in my location. So, we stand out. When she started in 2015, she wasn’t famous yet … I mean, she was already famous, but not that famous. She found us when her manager called the school and talked to another teacher who knew who Ariana was. What was it like meeting her for the first time? When I started teaching, I was really afraid of meeting celebrities. I would be like, Oh my gosh, I’m going to meet someone very famous and what if they’re very stupid? I remember when I was driving to her house the first time. I was very nervous. But the moment I met her, she was so nice. I had read so many bad articles about her, and now I’m offended because she’s so nice. When I got there, she had made tea and homemade cookies for me — she made them. She could have asked other people to do this for her, but she didn’t. That made me think, Oh, she’s just a person, like a normal person, and she has such a sweetheart.

Ariana Grande is doing a lot of soul-searching as she prepares for the kick-off of her Sweetener/Thank U, Next world tour, and she's penned a note straight from the heart that addresses how "healing" her music has been for her at the end of such a tumultuous period. After sharing a clip of her singing "The Sweetest Sounds" from Cinderella on Friday (March 1), she posted a typical selfie complete with cartoonish filter and goofy facial expression, but with a lengthy letter thanking her fans for their support. http://instagram.com/p/BufJrSFFU2q "i just want to say how grateful i am for my life, for the people in it, for the ups and challenges, for the laughter and the pain, for this music and for the lifelong friendships i’ve made thru making it (that includes my friendship with y’all)," she writes on Instagram. "a few months ago i told my team i wasn’t even in an okay enough place to tour or work at all and my friends," she continues. "you guys and this music really saved my life and turned everything around. i’m still healing but i feel a lot lighter as of late and i think this is really going to be such a beautiful time. thank god we are doing this."

Last August, Ariana Grande was seemingly untouchable. She’d survived the 2017 bombing at her Manchester concert, handling the public trauma with grace. She had just released the glittering Sweetener, her most honest and innovative album to date. And she was engaged to Pete Davidson, a fact you couldn’t forget even if you wanted to. But everything came to a screeching halt in September. Ariana’s ex-beau Mac Miller was found dead from an accidental overdose. Her relationship with Pete deteriorated. She withdrew into the studio. By November, Ariana was ready to show the world how she was coping. She released the supremely catchy gratitude bop “thank u, next,” and people were so shook by her emotional maturity, the song became Grande’s first No. 1 single. By the end of 2018, the singer was already hinting at her Sweetener follow-up, named for her zeitgeist-y hit. Now that thank u, next has arrived, here’s what you need to know going in.
